9.6 mil subs? lol bullcrap

rush1984rush1984 essexPosts: 181Member Uncommon

there is no way wow has 9.6 mil subs still, id be surprised if they had even 4 million..

almost every server is dead  and the remaining bulk have all piled up onto a couple servers, that is atleast how it is on eu servers.

so where does this number come from because its a lie....or maybe they have lost even more since the last check?

That was from February 7th. Check out the newer news.

They are around 8.3 million as of that article.

even 8.3mil seems like a exagerated number , every where is dead and  almost all servers are low pop

You should pay them $25 for a server transfer and transfer to one of the higher population servers.

Actually, just looking at the server select page, it's about a 3 way split on pop.

!/3 are full/high, 1/3 are medium and the rest low.

Still trying to figure why this thread was started out of the blue...

Usually it would have started after a news release. But not this time...it was just random. Weird. It's like going out on a date with a girl, having a nice discussion during dinner and then...out of the blue she states "I like to buy rat traps and watch rats die..." Check please!!

According to the latest published quarter (1st Q 2013), WOW has 8.3 million subscribers.

    Reference: http://files.shareholder.com/downloads/ACTI/2504222576x0x661950/3ea10697-2721-46d6-a188-c25fea50736e/ATVI%20Q1%202013%20press%20release.pdf

According to this pdf, WOW (MMO) made 275 million dollars in the first quarter alone of 2013 (3 months).

Note: this is coming from WOW alone (boxes, subs, services, etc...) and COD Elite service went free to play in late 2012, so it doesn't count for the 2013 figure.

So for investors the money is still rolling in.

--- Important note for players ---

As of patch 5.4 Blizzard will use virtual realms, effectivley regrouping players from several servers in the open world at once, along with the Auction House and Guild play of these regrouped servers.

With CRZ populating the world zones (or splitting them where it is necessary like cities).

So for the players ... the player numbers are irrelevant as the population is no longer based on single server play (not even in the open world).

OP your qouteing another argument about whter or not WoWs numbers are real, also when was the last time you logged on and looked at the serers, there are a few hundred servers  more then half of which are always half full and normally at prime time at least a quarter of which are capped.

I really don't understand why people are always bashing WoW and hopeing it die, yes its dated, yes people want new stuff, but it didn't dominate the MMO world for as long as it has due to a fluke, it was a combination of good desing, advertisement, and simply a large immersive world.

so I ask for the WoW bashers, to simply stop we know you don't like it but argueing that its crap when the number of still in use subs in a F2P era I think speaks for itself.

P.S. its not like it hurting you any, just dont play it.

P.S.S. for anyone who dousnt play WoW and want to see the condition of their server for themselves ( note these are only the north and south American servers )http://us.battle.net/wow/en/status

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage

Jeez how many times this need to get explained.
1 more time for people who have no idea how Blizzard calculates their subs.

    Example asian player

    1. he doesnt sub - he pays 3 cent per hour.
    2. if he plays 1 second in 3 months he gets counted as a full Sub for 3 months.

^Thats how blizzard sub system works.
offcourse they still got a HUGE playerbase :P

still doesnt answer the question "Where did you get your number from?" Your number being there is only 4 million subscribers.

And what of those who did the killing? Is happiness to be found in a future that is grasped with blood stained hands? Is that the truth?"

ok let me explain how most F2P games calculate their player base, you set up a account, you are now counted as playing forever even if you never play again,

now compare WoW judgeing its subs and most MMOs out their right now using this system, which one still has higher numbers.

F2P may be the way of the future, but ya know they dont make them like they used toimage

so yea a guy who played 1 sec is counted so the numbers are big

but when you enter the server and go to town you will see it almost empty :)

Because Asian players all log in for one second per month every month. They all play on the same server clusterss you do too.

    http://us.battle.net/wow/en/status American servers

    http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/status Europe servers

    http://kr.battle.net/wow/ko/status Korean servers

    http://tw.battle.net/wow/zh/status Taiwan servers

    http://www.battlenet.com.cn/wow/zh/status china servers

for those who cant rea these languages, and im sur emost here cant green is low tan is miduim and red is high load.

so here is all the servers for WoW in its different countries, (exept south east asia, it keeps linking to the states don't know why)

so know anyone can look at the servers and see for themselves how full the servers are, please do keep in mind that the time difrence means that prime time for these places will be different from our own.

in my own opion aside from korea, it seems most server are at least medium on average and during prime time all are medium and a lot are high load, but that's my opinion, I incourage everyone to check the servers several time through out the day for a few days so you can get a idea on your own on how active WoW still is.

P.S. I don't actually play WoW anymore, but I hate seeing people bash on a game just cause they don't enjoy it, that is not a good basis for a game being good or bad, after all not everyone eats meat, and not everyone eats vegtables.

Fan-driven schaedenfreude is one theory, anyway. Certainly explains why so many people gleefully look for publication of downturns (subs, income, developers laid off) in games they don't play.

Well,. your the one making the assertion that it "doesn't" have x amount of subs so maybe you should have asked your friend google and then posted that in the first place.

Now that we have that settled, can you put together an actual argument with some facts as to why it doesn't have 9.6 million?

    Other than "servers are dead!!!!"
