Scarlet Blade PORN ADS! :(

ElikalElikal Member UncommonPosts: 7,912

This is just too far! This isn't simply a bit sexy outfits, these are blatent porn ads! I never have used Adblock on MMORPG.com, but if this is allowed here now, sorry I must add MMORPG.com to Adblock. I do no want to be forced to see such porn pictures as so called advertisement!

This has gotten too far!

Ultil you can assure me MMORPG.com will refrain from sexist porn ads, I will unfortunately keep you on Adblock.

I used to do most of my posting here while at work.  Now there's no way you'll catch me logging on here while at work because of those ads.

    Porn? No.

Lude and tasteless? Very much so.

I want a mmorpg where people have gone through misery, have gone through school stuff and actually have had sex even. -sagil

As a single gentleman - I assure you these are not porn ads lol..
  • WylfWylf Member UncommonPosts: 376
Interesting, second time today someone has started an SB thread complaing about the ads. Seriously y'all see this as porn?  Over the top - yes, sometimes tasteless-yes, funny -at times yes.  But Porn- I have to vote no.

At the very most, it is soft-core porn. Either way, it needs to go. Mostly just because I find the side-panel ads annoying.

Waiting: CU, WildStar, Destiny, Eternal Crusade
    Playing: ESO,DCUO
    Played: LotRO,RIFT,ToR,Warhammer, Runescape

It doesn't matter what it is. There are multiple threads posted on this topic every day making it quite clear that the community here does not like the Scarlet Blade ads. Simply put, they must go.

What a bunch of prudes. And shouldn't you be, I don't know, working while at work? Kinda funny how noone is mad about ads showing killing but show a semi-nude female and everyone is up in arms.
  • JayFiveAliveJayFiveAlive Member UncommonPosts: 601
The ads definitely need to go. I hate seeing them at work too. May just get adblock I suppose...
  • Lord.BachusLord.Bachus Member RarePosts: 9,686

someone got no clue on the difference between porn and lightly erotic.. ah well, its not even erotic, its just half nude.

Not the fact that there is an add with half nude female on my screen, but the fact that i am actually surfing the internet for private stuff is more of an offense where i come from.

Nevertheless the way they present woman in this game is rather tasteless and withouth class, ... if done right, erotica can be a sensuall or exciting thing, but this is just.... meh..

Best MMO experiences : EQ(PvE), DAoC(PvP), WoW(total package) LOTRO (worldfeel) GW2 (Artstyle and animations and worlddesign) SWTOR (Story immersion) TSW (story) ESO (character advancement)

Wait til you see the best my friend: Soon someone will come and say they want the ad out because it's sexism and it hurts women. I mean it, in another thread one fella...well, you'll see. Soon. lol

Prudish American culture... (and yes, I'm a regular old American born man).

The ads don't bother me in the least, nor are they even remotely porn ads (Google can help you learn the difference).

Also, this site isn't the least bit family or kid friendly as far as the forums and even some of the articles go.  At least not by any Disney standard.  My guess is you should go find a family friendly gaming site to hang out on if this one bothers you.  Rated M games are part of the deal here, and the landscape is changing.

By the way, I would like to take this time to point out the absolutely ludicrous and laughable idea of someone complaining about slightly sexually suggestive video-games ads, while being perfecly 110% ok with blatant VIOLENCE in nearly every game on this site.

Blood, gore, murder, is all ok, but if you show even the closest thing to a bare boob all hell breaks loose.  There's something *seriously* wrong with some people...

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

You should all be happy. These ads are censored versions of whats actually in the game lol!

It should be highlighted, that the author is not American, but German.

Btw, I complained about overly excessive violence just as well, it just never happend in ads I am forced to see. So no, gore, murder and blood are not ok. And hell does not break loose because of a bare boob. But there has to be a limit, and this is where I feel it is overstepped. When you CHOSE a game or  chose to watch porn, I don't care. But ads are forced on you, when you want to come to a website that is NOT especially adult rated, so kids DO come here.

It is at least a degree of pornographic and it is sexist on top of it.

Maybe all the people complaining about the ads (which are in no way porn mind you) should stop logging on to the site at work and actually do some work. :P

I don't like these adds (or the game) either, but how are they showing women as being inferior to men?

Sexism seems to have changed it's definition when I wasn't looking.

Tasteless as appealing to the lowest common denominator would be a better way to classify them.

I don't play this game, and I don't have plans to because it sucks and the whole premise is silly to me.  However, these ads are cheesy at the worst but not even remotely porn.  The fact that you are making a big deal out of them just smacks of feigned outrage for the sake of stirring up drama.

So you don't like violence in your games either?  Perhaps you should ask yourself if these games are right for you.  It sounds like just hanging around this website must compromise far too many "moral values" for you. There are family rated games and web sites that cover them.  Perhaps that is where you should be hanging out.

So if some warrior is standing up there with his chest and abs showing, holding a sword made for killing, will you people complain then, or is this some kind of prudish double standard? What next?

Dude, people typically play video games for for competition, conflict, exploration, and reward. They are an adventure without consequence and while some skin is appreciated during the endeavor the SB ads push it too far toward looking like some wierd cyber-erotica hentai thing rather than an actual video game. Wierd toon sex festishes is all they appear to be selling. The RIFT Storm Legion ads for example got it right with just the correct mix. These SB ads? Look like something for a porn product that might appear in a brown wrapper in the mailbox...

    Agreed. +1

Are you mad they won't make a game with mostly naked Men instead of women?  Would that be considered sexist to you as well?  How old were you when you discovered you liked boobs?  I'm sure kids who hopefully are at least 13 yrs. old coming here are like "Hell Yeah, BOOBS!", but a grown man (hopefully) has an issue with it for whatever reason.  If you don't want your kids, or whoever's kids you are worried about, then you shouldn't be giving them internet at all, because I'm sure this is the last place they will look for boobie porn.  I really don't think MMORPG.com has an issue with what they are hosting and advertising, or they wouldn't.  I personally don't think the ads are anywhere near pornographic.  Just some women struttin' their stuff.  I know the game is about women and very little clothing.  Is it porn?  No, its a game showcasing women, because probably 90% of all male gamers like women and will play it for that reason.

I don't like these adds (or the game) either, but how are they showing women as being inferior to men?

Sexism seems to have changed it's definition when I wasn't looking.
