one of the message boards fansites has a thread saying to come over here to troll and complain about PvP problems as a way to embarass KI. most of us players arent crazy like them. dont let a few bad apples spoil ur opinion of us. go play the game and decide if its good i know youll like it.

Wizard101 is a game that I had seen time and again advertised here or there and I considered playing it, but for a long time never did.  Happily, that has changed.  Many may consider it a young person's game and they wouldn't be totally wrong.  However, there are those of us adults who enjoy the game as well. (Perhaps there's a child in each of us.)  I am really impressed with KI's devotion to making it a safe venue for the younger crowd. Kudos KI!!!  The game, as I see it, is very "Harry Potterish," and I consider that a good thing.  No 2 characters are the same.  They may specialize in the same Schools of Magic yet each is unique.  I think each of us approaches the game for different reasons.  I like the whole concept of different schools of magic and the quests are organized nicely.  KI has done a great job with this one!

I was drawn in to this game by my kids. Their best friends played it and wanted my kids to join them, so I made an account for them and supervised them to make sure the game was appropriate. When I found myself thinking "No kiddo, don't use that spell, use the other one!" I knew it was time to make my own characters, lol. My husband caught the bug and now three accounts, 14 wizards, and 8 pirates later we've had a LOT of tun as a family.

After a while playing the game, I got involved with the Mercenaries101/M4H team and it's been a great time in my life. Helping people while making great friends and being supported by the community is just a fantastic experience. KI has facilited a great environment for interacting with other players both in and out of the game.

Sure, there are parts of the game that I wish would be changed or updated, but the fun created in such a vibrant community, and the love of the game itself, keeps us invested in the game as long-term members.

It's my personal opinion that the PvP community isn't getting the attention it needs even though KI says they're working on improving things. During my PvP days I've seen quite a lot of language and I hear more and more reports of bullying going on in the arena-especially where puppet teams are concerned. No, I'm not exaggerating to make a point when I say BULLYING. Those people are quite vicious when it comes to beating down others more than half their level and it seems they're getting emboldened by the lack of PvP updates, thinking that KI allows this kind of behavior to go on because they're not doing anything about it. If you haven't already, check out the thread on Wizard101 Central called "PvP update long overdue" and read it thoroughly. I know people are tired of hearing complaints regarding PvP, but those complaints are legit because nothing has happened except a half-hearted fix overshadowed by a major pet update. Meanwhile, what has been going on with PvE related things? Bug riddled worlds, packs with gear that unbalances PvP even more, and a new level cap that makes the puppet situation even worse than it is now.

I know KI has said they're working on things, but my faith in their ability to fix this enormous and ongoing problem is dwindling fast, no matter how much I want puppet teams to be gone. For 8 months or so, what have they said about the matter? Nothing but a copied and pasted response that's the same :/ Something I'd love to see besides a more detailed, heartfelt, and well thoughtout response to this major problem is updates on how things are going. Videos on youtube of teams trying to work out the problem, articles with interviews on their stance against puppets, more PvP updates in Test Realm that are just Pvp updates regarding the system, anything that shows KI is serious about getting rid of this puppet pandemic.

Before anyone says anything rude or whatever in response to this, I'm not trying to be mean, or rude, or flammatory towards anyone. But I'm done sugercoating the problems that are ongoing on this game that's still full of potential. Do you know how many players have left because of PvP? Do you know how many would come back if the matchup system was overhauled? Think about it.

One big mess waiting to crash.  Yes PvP does need a major overhaul and would be better if KI could break the tie between PvP and PvE.  Or stop changing things in PvE to suit the PvPers.    This game started out as a fun and magical game everyone could enjoy.  The first arc of the game is well balanced with spells and gear in the right places when your wizard is ready and needs them.  With the second arc, there is a huge difference and what does work well for the PvE community gets nerfed or removed because it does not work for PvP.  When I started Playing W101, PvP was not a part of the game but was integrated very shortly after.  Now, there are some that seem to think PvP is the base of the game and that PvE should revolve around that aspect.  Sorry, PvE is the game BASE.  PvP is a sideline and should REMAIN SO.  PvP should be disabled until KI can fix it then put it back in test and fix ALL the bugs before releasing back to live game.

Yes, Wizard101 is a great game especially the first arc.  It is balanced and has a smooth run in the storyline.  The second arc is lost somewhere along the line so that you are not sure what the story line is and by the time you get to the latest world in the arc, you are stressing depending on your wizards school of focus.  The current latest world unfortunately leaves a lot to be desired by the casual and family players.

I love Wizard101 & Pirate101. The games and their game communities are fabulous. As others have pointed out the KI community mangers take their jobs very seriously and they do an outstanding job of it! Thank you Professor Greyrose and One-Eyed Jack! Thank you for everything you do at KI. Thank you for your outreach to the fansites. Thank you for your patience and kindness toward the players. Because of your hard work, fansites flourish, players are engaged and knowledgeable, and EVERYONE benefits! Gotta run. I'm sure one of the Neelas need something. ;)

Go community! KI should be proud to have such a wondurful fansite community :)

As for this book of the month, it is like the plot of Zafaria, where you have to find missing students.

    So true....

Re: MMORPG takes a look at just one way the Wizard101 community is celebrated.

This has been a truly wonderful experience for me. There may have been a few bumps along the way, but with the help of two very thoughtful staff members… Jester and the always kind and understanding wisdom of Professor Greyrose… I have found the answers and help to continue playing.
This game is not just for entertainment. It serves many needs. As a person that is dealing with a TBI, it was suggested to me that I play Wizard 101 to help re-train my brain. The needed game skills are transferring into real life skills. Just to name a few, it has helped to quicken my decision making, thought processing, strategy, patience, and memory.
Not only is the staff great, but I have been lucky enough to be taken under the wing of a very thoughtful and kind “Master of many Wizards”, that has given me so much help and training that I doubt I would still be playing if we had not met. I feel it would be remiss of me to not Thank David along with the Staff.
I join in celebrating the Staff, and the understanding Wizards of “101”.
    Thank You All!

Hah! I find all this hilarious! KI's W101 "Community" Manager does NOTHING to help the community. Professor Greyrose abuses her powers on forums and on the facebook page. Recently she threw down huge punishments on those who did not deserve it over a small glitch that she neglected to get fixed. As a result, millions of players have started to leave.  Professor Greyrose apparently ignores what we, the community/ players, want in the game. If she doesn't like something we post, she deletes it then blocks you from posting. Kingsisle, you need to rethink your community management hire. Tell her that she needs to improve or she has to go. With people like Professor Greyrose behind the wheel of the game, I'm not too sure this is a family-friendly game anymore. This is honestly starting to become a "I'm gonna do what I want and you can't do anything about it" type of game. And KI has done ABSOLUTLY NOTHING in terms of PvP. I am seeing too many "Warlords" and "Commanders" around the game. I know for a fact that some of them did not earn their title fairly and made sure to beat up on weaker players. I tend to stay clear of PvP since it has become completely corrupt and is not monitored at all. Whenever I want to do PvP, I do practice instead of ranked because I don't want to fight people that won't play fairly.  Sometimes I even PvP with friends at my houses, but I have certain rules to keep it all fun and games. If I believe someone is cheating, I will give them a warning. If it continues, they will proceed to be sent away. They may come back, but anymore of the behavior and they aren't welcome back.  The title of this thread is now a complete lie, as Greyrose only gives real responses to those she likes. I was punished by her for the glitch, and she gave me a permanent ban! I was like, "I did nothing to deserve this! Why are you doing this to me?" I could go on about what's going wrong these days, but there isn't enough time for me to do that.

  • gwynnparkgwynnpark Member Posts: 2
Yea, well now you'll be surprised to run into an honest player who hasn't cheated. People are finding new loopholes in the game to cheat.

You seem to forget that even people 65+ play W101. And I'm 26 myself, so it's not necessarily "Made for kids" as you so boldly put it, but the community is welcoming of all ages.  And from what I understand. AutoGroup is currently in the test realm so it's an upcoming feature. So do pick your words a bit more carefully.

And WHOSE fault is it for not reporting bugs, glitches, and notifying them to fix it? That's right! The players who exploit the bugs and glitches in the first place for profit. You're quite full of yourself to call this article a lie. And you see lots of warlords and commanders because people actually take the time to actually DO PvP. Granted, some low-levels like to leech Rank Points from level 95s who allow all levels into combat instead of setting restrictions that are available to them.

Presumptuous statements like the one you've just made makes you seem less credible yourself as someone whose opinion can be trusted.

Well we played as elders because of the kids though.I payed for mine, family and others to play ,well because i am a nice person ..lol.

IMO the game needed to do one thing, open up from the cost effective repetitive design. That design is ok for a month or two them everyone gets bored and quits.

I don't like the camera locking for example during battles,i suppose was done for a reason so the kids pay attention lol.

The chat restriction does not work the kids all get around it EASILY,so why even bother, just to say it is there?

MY worst peeves are relived here,MOST of the buildings are instanced or just static structures with no insides.

Also the game was really good until level 50,then the design was lost. They tried to make changes to alleviate for more levels but did not help.Gear became meaningless after the Waterworks gear which was done great.I remember still using WW gear into the 70's lol, actually i think i was even 82 or something like that.Yes so pretty boring when none of the gear past WW gear is a viable exchange.losing damage and pips to get more crit  or more crit blocking and less accuracy is not a viable trade off.

Also they made players feel stagnant, never improving while they made the enemies improve vastly.A perfect example is players still get a maximum of 2 pips to start while high level npc's get 4.So you end up with say 2 kids playing together start with 4 pips facing 4 npc with a total of 16 pips..lmao,not a good idea for Fun.

Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.

I was not referring to the filtered chat, more as the settings in PVP that limit participants by level.

Its so hard to take hardly any of these posts at face value when so many of them have only a few posts.  As with so many post on Wizard 101 , it seems like some kind of prize is given if you head over here and post.  In previous posts regarding this game, its the same pattern.  If you remember  they linked to these forums directly from the other sites so they could win game of the year in the yearly poll a few years back, that says all you need to know.
