thought i would take another look at star trek i logged in and went to d/load the client only to be told by my anivirus that what i was downloading was a virus along with the game..i have mcafee..anyone else had this problem..if so what did you do?i know its highly unlikely there will be a virus but it just seemed strange to get that on screen

I don't use McAfee, did it happened right at the start? Just a wild guess, Cryptic uses Pando for both STO and CO, and a few antivirus prog don't like that (with a reason I might add, Pando s*cks :) )  There's the game client up there as well, you can download it directly via torrent or steam, etc.

I don't have McAfee (and downloaded through Steam), so didn't experience the problem, but what Po_gg said is likely correct.  From this thread, it looks like some others have had it come up too:

I doubt it's a virus, just the AV reacting to the download as if it were.

Hell hath no fury like an MMORPG player scorned.

on top of that, McAfee is terrible.  One of the worst on the market right now.

Yeah, ditch McAfee, it's almost as bad as Norton.

For me, Microsoft Security Essentials does everything I need it to, and it's free.
