Guild Wars 2 soon gets tedious and boring

I've tried to like this game. Personally the only reason it will succeed is because there's no sub. If there was it would soon end up like SWTOR, Tera and Rift.

The combat system isn't good. Too dam fiddly having to constantly use the right mouse button to turn yourself around. It breaks combat. Just plain annoying. Even the combat for each class gets tedious after awhile. For example firing a rifle being blown backwards is a good novelty but after a dozen or so times its irritating.

Dynamic Events get more and more repetitive.  Am sick to death of escorting quests. Really do we have to escort people at least ten times in every zone? Its designed as a clever timesink to make you feel you progress at a slow pace. Even if its nott escort, its kill a thousand centaurs, bandits, worms. YAWN AND MORE YAWN.

Personal Story- Even more tiresome quests which involved escorting or saving someone. More bandits and centaurs. Great.

Gear- Can buy stuff with karma or pick up off the odd random mob. Most of the karma vendors don't have much and the majority of loot you pick is crafting stuff. Yawn another timesink.

The World- Didn't get a feeling of OMG this is epic.  Where's the decent music scores in this game? Cities are instanced nuff said.

Replayability value- the thought of getting to even level 30, then re-rolling and going through the dynamic event system again makes me feel nauseous. zerg fests of button mashing in every zone is not my idea of fun.

I don't think its tedious or boring.

And, I don't agree with any thing you wrote.

    Good day, sir.

WEll MMOS are not for you then, pretty much every MMO is about doing stuff to accomplish things, not really sure how you expect to progresss in future mmos ?

A simple "IMO" would have made OP's post seem valid.

Well IMO: Yes the game is a little Centaur heavy (they feel a bit like the new charr) but everything else... I disagree.

We dont need casuals in our games!!! Errm... Well we DO need casuals to fund and populate our games - But the games should be all about "hardcore" because: We dont need casuals in our games!!!

centarus are really only heavy in the human zones (hence there biggest threat) each zone has its own nemesis.

Op pretty much said everything is time consuming, which is what your attempting to do when playing a game, have fun consuming time.  i dont see any problem with what drops, you never once are forced to buy any gear or craft anything. i get green's and gold's (post 35) on mobs, and from karma vendors

as soon as you hit 40, you get gold karma cultural gear and every 20 levels after that.  crafting is simple and fast, great exp and when you craft in bulk it goes by in seconds,  100 ingots only takes you about 20 seconds to complete so why complain about time consuming when its faster then any crafting i've done

Let them play few weeks:) they will realise it too but it wants time...You said how I felt in Closed beta. More and more ppl start to have the same opinion about this game. Its so overhyped game that lots of ppl is blinded right now. But events are more repetitive and boring than usual kill x rats: ))

Was interested in this game but no open world pvp kills it for me personally.  I like that feeling while questing i could get attacked or the feeling years ago when you would have group fights at Tauren Mill.  (played wow and quit just after BC)  I hope this game does well as the more MMO's that do well the more companies will make and the more chocies I will have :)  Hopefully it sucks some people from WOW cause Blizzard is milkin that baby.  Haven't had an MMO I really liked since WoW and EQ1 &EQ2.  People spent some much time trying to be different then wow they often kept the bad and got rid of the good parts.  Hope the people that enjoy this game keep playing and if they do add open world pvp you might see me in there.

Every mmo suffers from the same thing. after awhile.   Some mmo;s just do a better job in hiding it.  If you don't like doing the same thing over and over then MMO's aren't for you.  Im not defending GW2, far from it (Don't like the game), but it sounds like you have hit burnout with mmo's in general.   I would take 6 months to a year off from them and then come back to one you might want to try.  You may find them fun again.   That usually works for me.

I'm not an IT Specialist, Game Developer, or Clairvoyant in real life, but like others on here, I play one on the internet.

Seriously you are overreacting. I'm lvl 42 and i'm having a blast!! The only thing that bugs me is the TP :(

Lol, you have exactly the same Kill X and Collect X on gw2, what are you talking about?. But even when people dont want to admit it and they are just ignoring the problem, GW2 is repetitive, im almost 40 too, and i found that the events are pretty much the same, u are allways doing the same ¨quest¨ with different mobs or zones but is allways the same thing that you did before, literally, and it happen the same thing with the storyline, i mean u clean or defend  a town from Centaurs, then Undead, then Charrs, and repeat with the next type of NPC on the list.  At some point the game get into a mindless grind, like any other MMO before, the secret is about play the game for what it is,  a casual MMO.

My personal questing has been awesome, reached lvl 30. I get to choose between 2 routes, and once even 3 options, and then go with it. And these routes are quite different. Instead of fighting a guy in an arena, I went to rig the games and ended up drinking some of a potion and hallucinating and fighting all these "imaginery" enemies. After that quest, I got to lead an army into combat to seize a town. I chose the direct approach, since the stealthier one last time was a bit too strange :)

I would think that it's impied. Or do your seriously expect every opinion to begin with "IMO"? IMO that's just dumb....especially in a "Reviews & Impressions" section of the forum.

I give it about 1 more week before we really start to see alot more threads like this. Also why should the op have to say IMO? I bet if he was saying that he thought the game was very good and he was having a blast nobody would have said that he should say IMO.

GW2, THE most overrated title of the decade. Guerilla marketing works!

seriously... good thing I got one of these cheap 20$ keys. Was bored to tears after three days. Meh, cheaper than getting two tickets for a movie, but the lasting appeal doesn't look too good.

No you don't have to, why do you do DE that you don't enjoy?

If it's not broken, you are not innovating.

I have killed lots of skitters (in other word rats) in starting area for Humans. I get a lot of kill X number of rats tasks. You know GW2 is released now and all of us are playing and can see what this game really has to offer? gone are the days when one could fool you with comments like these.

  • DallanonDallanon Member UncommonPosts: 13

YEP! Have to agree with many posters in here...

GW2 is not your problem; MMO's are.

  • VorchVorch Member UncommonPosts: 793
Yea, when you remove the context of the DE, the events leading up to the DE, the story of the area, the different mobs and mob mechanics, the active combat, the beautiful setting of the world, awesome score by Jeremy Soule, experience from W v W, experience from crafting, etc. it DOES get a bit repetitive.

I agree a lot with the OP.

He mentions music score and I think it is very important. Music often makes the world and is key to successful feeling of the whole game. Great themes I remember from WoW, I can recreate in my head instantly but I barely remember any good music in GW2. Jeremy Soule was responsible for that and I think he didnd do a good job.

Another thing is visual style. Zones in the game supposed to be different for different races and they seem somehow alike. Maybe blurry or hazy setting and pastel colors make it look so. Going from Sylvari forests to Asura tech grounds doesn't seem like I moved in the terms of how I feel when I look at the screen. It is hard to explain but I hope you get it.

Mobs that you encoutnter throught the zones also repeat. There you have river drakes, rock drakes and yet another drakes in the following zone. Same with birds and bats.

I played to level 27 and it is enough for me.  The game just becomes insipid after a while.

WoW's music is epic. The Night Elf zone music was the first thing I heard when I began playing and it was super ultra epic. I can't remember the themes for a lot of the old MMOs which have also been out for like 6-10 years.

IMO there is no point of saying IMO because clearly everything you say on discussion boards is your own opinion. Don't really need to start/end each sentence with IMO!
