    No sympathy here.

He DID need to spend it for more bag slots. It isn't optional when you're literally so overburdoned with gear & you have no room for it.

They've intentionally put stopgaps in GW2 to almost force you into buying gems.

I'm saddened you cannot see that :|.

Since the Trader has been down, I have been salvaging all the armor and weapons I get that I cannot or will not use.  This is the only way I have been able to keep crafting without spending hours upon hours farm for the little trophy things you need.  The havesting stuff is easy, wood and ore are a cake walk the little trophy's are a pain in the ass without the trader.

I did buy gems for the bank slot but that is because I wanted to, not because I was forced too.

Let's see here's a really good idea play the auction house/trading post once it's back up lol. Take the money from your ah/tp and buy gem's. Buy all the upgrades you want, don't need to spend a damn single dollar for anything in this game. Do some damn research before spouting useless bs.

The chest to key drop ratio is actually 1:0. Keys only come from single completion rewards like personal story quests and map completion. This means there is a maximum number of chests a single character can unlock without spending gems.

WildStar is like if Ratchet and Clank had a baby with Beyond Good & Evil and that baby was raised by World of Warcraft and Spore and babysat on the weekends by the aliens from Space Jam. It's an ugly bastard worth a few laughs but not much else.

If you're really having trouble with inventory space, then this might help (I think this is based on pre-release info, things might have changed?)

Incorrect, you can get keys from the big chests in main dynamic events.. like the Shadow Behemoth.

I thought some have said they got them as drops? If this is the case that is fucking lame as hell. Does make sense though seeing as how I haven't gotten one yet.

EDIT: As a drop I should add

For arguments sake , let's say GW2 was that good , and F2P was really the way to go forward , they would of sold more copies then Skyrim by now.   Skyrim sold more collectors edition in the same ammount of time it took GW2 to sale 1 million copies. And keep in mind Skyrim doesn't have multi player capabilities , so therefor is in somewhat of a handicap against GW2.

F2P is not the way to go forward in a MMO , never is and never will be , there is always a catch sooner or later by playing F2P MMO's.

So yeah , nothing further to type here.

In a pay to play mmorpg you would have ALL the content given to you for 2 months at that price.

Good thing you have all the content open to you in GW2... An extra bank slot and gold isn't limiting content in any way.

Yeah...not sure what you're going on about. I seem to be doing just fine without purchasing anything from the store.

...not to mention, you can only buy 1 extra bag slot...

Yea, thats what I was about to say. You can also get them from Chest themselves. So far, I've opened 4 chest and haven't spent any money. The only thing I'm going to spend money on is bank storage, bag slot on my main, and a character make over when its avaible (I don't like how my character looks, but I don't want to reroll now)

i have recieved one key as a drop from a normal mob in Queensdale, not during a DE. i also found around 12 lock boxes, so this should put the key drop rate at 1:.083 or worse.

If this is the future of cash shops then consider me onboard. :p

That's because they aren't letting the market be truly free; their system forces gem-sellers to either sell at undervalued prices during the starting days/weeks of the servers, not sell gems at all or pay real money through 3rd party site to obtain significantely more gold. It will take some time and lots of "gem-seller-sacrifices" before the equilibrium is met.

The minimum wage is 7.25 dollars under federal U.S. law; on the other hand 600 gems cost about 7.5 dollars. If you played 10+ hours to obtain that gold, then it is somewhat acceptable, but if it took you far less time than that, it is a clear sign of the underhanded effects of the current system.

    Edit:

In fact, all of you who are buying gems early from other players, should praise that there are people like the topic starter, who are willing to sacrifice themselves by selling at a far too low price.

I'm pretty sure the only thing ANET has done is set a ceeling on the amount you can sell gems for which, in an MMO, is needed. GW didn't have a ceeling on prices on any items during launch, which lead to a lot of market manipulation (since nothing is truly finite in an MMO) and massive inflation (again because nothing is finite in an MMO).

Unless they changed the system very recently, the seller/buyer cannot put bids at prices of their own choice, they can merely buy/sell for whatever price the system is showing at the moment. Supposidly, the demand/supply affects the rates, but it will take time before those rates reach an equilibrium, much slower than it would in a truly free market. This is a major disadvantage for any person intending to sell gems for gold legally early on.

Yet there's plenty of players who have played and haven't spent a single dollar.

If you can't afford the 20 dollars, I'd suggest you should probably look into some sort of counseling for poor impulse control. :)

That same thing could be said for every F2P game out that got a bad rap for its cash shop. But since its GW2 then its perfectly fine. I guess from now on we'll all say that F2P cash shops are the way to go.
