It's a $60 video game, not a life changing event. Relaxe and enjoy it!!

Years ago I would go to my sons softball games and the other team would cheer for their kids. I didn't dislike the other team for it, nor did I take my son out of the sport because of it. That would not only have been a huge dissapointment for him, but also for me.  Now, I'm looking forward to my two Grandsons playing so I can cheer them on.

Don't let what others are cheering about turn you from something you may enjoy. :)

I play mmos because of the social aspect.....dont have much to say to most gw2 fans. would only buy it to go kill them in pvp and be better at their game then them.

60$ could buy me lots of stuff better stuff than a game i am unsure of.

Hmm, I understand. Money is hard to come by these days. I hope you find what you are looking for in a game, and I'm not here to promote it. I just wanted to lend my 2 cents on it because to me it is a very unique payment style for an mmorpg and lends hours of entertainement for the price. ;)  If we could just figure out a way to bring PvP to softball now....lol

its the same reason guild wars 2 players are coming into other forums talking bad about other games saying gw2 is the second coming.  guess whats, its not, its just another game.  it will have problems like any other game, the developers will do stuff that players dont like, same as in any other game.

so my advice if you are a gw2 player that dont want people hating on your game, then dont go hating on other games.  play your game and be happy with it.  not all of us are gonna play gw2, not all of us want to, not all of us think its the best thing since sex was invented, and some of us are damn tired of reading the forums for the game we do play and all we hear is gw2 is so great, its better than this game, yadda yadda yadda.  its sickening.  so dont ask people not to hate on gw2 when lots of gw2 players are hating on all other games.

I think something else to bear in mind is that forum goers are an extremely small population in any singular game, especially in regards to more generalized websites such as this one. The atmosphere in game during the BWEs was extremely different. I remember only one person in map chat being an overt a-hole and blatantly attempting to bait folks. Otherwise, it was mostly folks discussing things they are seeing in game, and folks asking for help (and getting responses).

I remember in the last stress test I was in, a number of us gathered to check out the whale in the "ocean" part of Lion's Arch. Which then lead to a group of us exploring the sewers under Lion's Arch together and finding the Armorfish for rangers. It was a neat experience of just random folks having a good time exploring an area and joking around.

I think a lot of what some deem as hate isn't hate. Just being critical of the game. Which is fine by me.

As to those slamming this game out of fear for their own? Meh...they need to get over it.

Between the popularity of the game and the way many acted on forums far as bring total douchebags it isn't surprising there is quite an element of hate amongst some. Some was simply going to happen regardless and some is due to the pricks championing this game.

    1. For god's sake mmo gamers, enough with the analogies. They're unnecessary and your comparisons are terrible, dissimilar, and illogical.

    2. To posters feeling the need to state how f2p really isn't f2p: Players understand the concept. You aren't privy to some secret the rest are missing. You're embarrassing yourself.

    3. Yes, Cpt. Obvious, we're not industry experts. Now run along and let the big people use the forums for their purpose.

See ? We get that kind of snarky suckerpunch in every goddamn thread about the success (or not) of GW2. Every ... frackin ... time. So how can you expect that suddenly, all those people that are pissed off by such systematic doom-and-gloomers, can go all super tolerant against non-constructive critics ?

And you know what : what will be fun will be to watch you, doomers, you, people, who are sitting on your armchair analyst throne, and watch you fade away, silently.

(what's fun is to see how you're playing the safety card by extending the doom to 6 monthes. Heck, 6 monthes is considered a success, as no MMO since WoW has sustained in the top 3 played MMOs for that long)

Now, if you could just "chill back and relax, and watch" for real, and silently, please, that would save a lot of animosity here.

i think its the Allods fans coming into our forums and saying Allods is the second coming when its just another game.  if it weren't for them we wouldn't be going into other forums saying GW2 is the second coming imo.  then maybe TSW fans wouldn't have to go to the Allods forums and call TSW the second coming.

its all a vicious cycle, but the one thing we agree on is that its all someone else's fault for saying their game is the second coming and the most important thing to do is point out that they say that.

because if it weren't for people like us pointing out that they are saying the game is the second coming people might stop hearing that phrase altogether!

what a terrible world that would be.

My god, there are multiple people saying that they won't play GW2 because they went to a forum and 20 or so fanbois annoy them?  So they don't want to play with the entire MILLIONS of other players?

See, this has to be anti-marketing.  Nobody could be this stupid and asanine.  Next we are going boycott Vanilla icescream because the majority prefer it and think chocolate ice cream looks like poop.

Stop with the stupid excuse "I won't play this game, because fans are bad."

What fans? You mean the few people on this forum? This game has thousands of pre-purchase and pre-orders. How can someone be stupid enough to judge community by few fans that are active on forum. Thousands of people will play this game. Hundreds of mature guilds with good players. Is it your first game ever? Never played mmo before? Every community has it's black sheep, and those sheep talk the most on forum, but you don't see them in game that much.

That "I won't play, because of other players" pfff, just another fake argument. Few guys talk bad on forums, so I won't play, come on, grow up.

Suddenly everyone is soooo social, because it is so great reason to flame the game more...

Now this is soemthing that encourages me...... its these forums that have made me not want to touch the game, but what ive seen of it really does look great.I did not like the idea that everybody is max level in pvp with no epic gear stats. To me that is a big reason why i play the mmos i do..i want to grind more than the next guy for more of an edge than a casual.A fluff item set of gear just isnt appealing to me, i see it as exactly that..a texture/skin.I want stats in my gear not an empty shell. With this said though i tried to understand what playing that would be like and its a class based *fps* that isnt with guns but magic and swords and whats damn awesome!!!.After doing that the idea really appeals to me

I see the GW2 community working in a few ways after launch, with how i have seen people behave here anyways.People think its the best game ever and get bored and tear it to pieces.......  Many improvements still wont be made to broken elements of the game because those being delusional now will just be worse when they are attached to their pixels....or with the type of gamers it brings being mainly casual because of the payment  model and how the leveling is designed that they will cry to have very hard bit of content nerfed.  I saw this exact behaviour with diablo 3 and it was my worst gaming experience ever since the days of kingsquest. You have given me hope though :)

What haters are we talking about?  I do see the typical Troll post on the forums, but I don't classify those as anything else other than trolling.

Who seriously hates this game?  I mean, how can you seriously hate a game you haven't even played yet?

I've posted a few times that I find the hype to be overbearing, but I do not in any way hate the game.  I prepurchased and plan on playing all weekend.

Maybe someone can direct me to these so-called "hate" posts.

I doubt anyone that really planned on playing is going to hold off because of some asses on forums. Anyone saying as much probably never planned on playing anyways. Pretty weak reasoning really on their part.

I think a lot of people who genuinely enjoy traditional raiding and other guild-centered activities are unhappy that a game poised to be as popular as GW2 is does not feature their favorite playstyle.

Agreed. I don't understand why people can't be happy for others.

As a wow/gw player I was happy, hopeful and even played the following games when they came out: Tabula Rasa, WAR, AoC, Aion, Rift, Tera, FF XI/XiV and even SWTOR. Grant it, I was sorely dissapointed, in most cases, and ended up returning to wow and gw1.

With the advent of GW2, why can't players of other games be happy for us as, at least I, was happy for them as they played their game. I'm not saying to abandon all legitimate criticism of any game... but yeah, the kind of vile hatred seen on this forum, and others, is reminiscent of ideological extremism.

I am not unhappy because i know lots of people like what gw is offering. Its alien to me though but the more i look into the game and think about it i do like what the game is offereing...i just fail to see this perfect game on the pedestal others do and im fine with them thinking that and i am happy they can find that in a game...they just must not try forum pvp me if i dont see it.

Also just to keep in mind if you haven't considered it already...

You can work hard to grind the "perfect" set of WvW gear with Top-Level Stats/Runes tailored to your playstyle which will give you an advantage against a lot of opponents you encounter there (due to them not being max level, not having top-tier gear, not optimizing it to their playstyle, etc).

The main differences when it comes to PvE/WvW gear in GW2 vs say WoW are that the time/effort needed to assemble a "decent" set of gear at 80 isn't that steep and that your gear won't become outdated every 3 or so months.

I am just giving my reasons not to play the *precious gw2* and you flame me telling me to grow up.

I am sure gw2 is going to be a great game....but when the crying does start on this forum and believe me its coming.I am going to laugh hard.

It's just a game, it's not my precious. I have my precious in home, and it's not a game :] Not playing a game, because you don't like what some guy talks about on forum is a little ridiculous reason, don't you think? You woudn't play it even if you didn't enter this forums, admit it. Who cares about me or any other people on forum, when he want's to play a game. Like I said, thousands of people play a game, everyone can find someone they will enjoy playing with.

No game is perfect.  But a lot of complaining I see on forums comes from raiders, so I figure, they're the most genuinely unhappy.

Personally, I'm glad there are raiding games, but I'm very glad there is about to be one that doesn't have traditional raiding, much less make it a requirement for the best gear.

I don't hate the game.  I just don't like it.  Doesn't mean that I expect others to dislike it also.  No.  I hope the game does well.  the light knows we need our better game studios to turn a profit.  I have never fully understood the need to "hate" on a game.  It all boils down to maturity, I think.

For me, I don't pay reviews or common place forum users much notice.  Truth is almost all of them are not at all qualified to tell me if a game is any good or not.  Just play it.  If its fun for you, great!  If not, move on.

so you like another couple posters on here you are basing the entire GW2 community on the very vocal minority? really doesn't add up to me. If you actually had any interest in the game you probably would get it not because a couple people annoy you in the forums
