There is a chance to get DX11 for GW2

A guy was asking about DX11 on the GW2 tech support page and this is what one of the Arena.Net staff said his name is Mike O Brien"

" We’re focusing on DX9 for launch because it has the broad compatibility and because graphics card vendors have added extensions to DX9 for all the new features we need. We’ll evaluate DX11 support after launch.

aside from some nice effects if they add tesselation I don't really care either way.. i honestly don't think the demand is that high for it. I honestly would like better support for other forms of anti-aliasing and more options in the graphics menu though

I angered the clerk in a clothing shop today. She asked me what size I was and I said actual, because I am not to scale. I like vending machines 'cause snacks are better when they fall. If I buy a candy bar at a store, oftentimes, I will drop it... so that it achieves its maximum flavor potential. --Mitch Hedberg

DX11 would likely increase performance for cards that support it though so it's a balance between new effects and better efficiency.

It not just the tesselation, DX11 has more optimizations in it to make your games run faster. Specially for Geforce 600 series of graphics cards, DX9 performance is lacking for the 600 series. Try running Heaven benchmark with dx9 and dx11 with the same settings you will see :P.
