1. Get rid of starter island....hopefully there will be lots of people around so people can go back to starting in their home cities.  If the game draws like it could, the island will be a giant lag fest anyway.  Also the starter areas are too diverse and awesome to be wasted.

2.  Increase content difficulty.  VG is about the jouney not rushing to end game.  Make the journey interesting.  Make the dungeons challenging for groups...this could probably be dont solely by elminating the island starter gear which is way better than what you would get other places.

3.  Take out the hunter' league and other buffed quest gear that channels everyone into the same zones to do the same quests for the best gear.  Its a huge world encourage people to go out in explore.   Also, inflated gear ties into making the game to easy as stated in number 2.

4. Polish polish polish.  Fix the rain in win7, any remaining bugs, and graphical glitches.

Other than these things, you are good to go.

    Sounds like a good idea.

so ... pretty much the opposite of everything you listed here is going to happen.

    nice thoughts though.

    Well they have:

    made three starter areas

added good loot to a lot of quests/named to spread the post level 10 player base out

got off the golden path concept (HL, CIS, etc) and made the world full of better loot

Kind of the same idea just went the long way around the problem for the solution.  But it does tie back into the P2P v F2P set up they are working on.  Basically us P2P folk are going to get geared out while the F2P will be less geared but still playable... just like EQ2.

All I really want out of F2P are more players and something other then VT to do in the 30's : )

    1.  I agree, I always enjoyed rolling a different class and race just to experience their starter zone, the starter island completely ruined this.

    2.  I disagree.  The game is already quite tough due to the sheer amount of group quests for leveling that I never was able to DO due to the low population.  They also should implement that alternate acheivement plan they had scrapped a few years back to help with that "journey" and give the leveling game more depth.

    3.  Agree and disagree.  While I think the hunter quests should be expanded to be in every zone for that level, this game is a themepark and gear should be fun to go for.  The whole point of getting better gear is to make your character stronger thereby making it nice to go crush old content I couldn't complete.  Been a staple of RPGs since FF1 for me.  Always liked how enough time and experience and better gear would let me overcome certain obstacles.

    4.  Agree obviously.  Let me add refining the crafting and diplomacy so that they are just as rewarding as adventuring and maybe shorten the crafting grind.  I should be able to get a boat, even a small one by level 20, not near endgame.

As to number 2.  I am envisioning having enough players around to be able to do group quests and group regularly to see all of the dungeon content.  I agree better gear was definitely needed with the lower pop to have a chance to do this, considering you might be trying to solo or do group content with 2 or 3 people.

What I'm afraid of, is ending up with full groups kind of overgeard for the content, blowing through it ala WoW dungeon runs and then people hitting cap complaining about how there is nothing to do.  I remember coming back to WoW after a couple of years away, leveling a new toon, and just being horified at how watered down and easy the dungeons were due to boa gear etc.  It was really sad to me.
