You must have a different definition of P2W than most.  Do you even know what's IN the cash shop yet?  How can you define it as pay to win when you don't.  I'm not saying it won't be, because I haven't seen the cash shop yet, but guess what?  Neither have you.  Quit overreacting.  They're not even finished with the implementation yet.  And knowing how they did with GW1....it's probably no big deal at all.  The gems/gold/karma, etc. system....I don't think it will be a big deal.  We'll have to see exactly how it works live.

And...it may work differently for PvP than PvE.  That's MY guess, but again....we'll see.  They did, after all, say they were wanting to make the PvP an e-sport.  Do you honestly think they'd just toss that idea so they could ruin in with pay to win items?  I don't think so.

My worries would be that the cash shop doesn't remain strictly cosmetic, the community(blame youtube), and the endgame still has me unsure as well.

I can PvP and all but I also heavily value PvE and progression, I just don't see that with GW2s endgame, as for the PvP I can start that at level 1 so it's not really endgame, by the time I am level 80 i'll probably have tired of it already.

    No OWPvP is unfortunate IMO.

I wasn't worried about the cash shop before, but thanks to diamonds I am now.

Where are the other things diamonds will buy?  Character slots, probably xp potions and bank slots and xpacs?  Do you think after going to the trouble to put this system in that they won't take full advantage by making sure that people with credit cards and surplus cash buy diamonds to trade for gold to people who don't have those things, thus allowing the gold sellers to buy everything in the shop, thus making more profit for NCSoft and Anet?  Seems unlikely.

Seems to me you will be able to buy everything in the cash shop with diamonds, thus making farming for gold far more appealing for everyone, even some of us who do have a CC and can afford to just buy diamonds ourselves.  And if farming gold is appealing, inflation, playing the AH (in large groups most likely), and speculating will quickly become issues.

My opinion is that either it will be annoying and grindy to get gold even for basic things while leveling or it will be fast and easy but you'll never want to buy anything from another player due to the silly costs of everything thanks to the gold and diamond trading.

you can convert gems to gold, so you can buy everything on the auction house for real money.

I think the best items in the game will be bought with karma or Glory though, ie auction house items will be like blue items in wow, while karma and Glory items will be epic

Which doesn't guarantee no inflation woes.  Or to put it another way, if the AH doesn't have anything great in it and the game isn't horribly grindy to get basic repair items and gear from NPCs and drops, then why buy gold with gems at all?

Dynamic events helps tremendously, but it wont save the open world unless it's full of unexpected encounters and places, misc content, stuff that makes the world feel interesting past the obvious things.

Isn't that kind of what Dynamic Events do? Offer exactly that ?

My biggest worry about GW2, that i wont get to play this game before june  :(

Dynamic Events don't do anything for the explorer who is looking for places, objects and lore of interest in the environment that doesn't require constant combat.  Hidden treasures for those who go out of their way to find that secret cave or underwater grotto.  Ways to leave our mark when we find some really out of the way ruins so that the next explorers will know who has come before them.  Finding a wrecked ship and being able to repair and maybe even use it.  Discover a long lost teleport pad that leads you to a floating temple, where if you play your cards right, the old monks who reside there might teach you some ancient art related to your class or some forgotten language that would allow you to embark on a quest filled with puzzles in that very same language....etc.  MMOs have become so concentrated on the combat equation, that  they suffer on the quality or even the option of all the other things that make an MMO feel more like a living, breathing world rather than a stage set for combat locations and quest hubs.  Being a casual themepark MMO doesn't mean it has to play like a platformer.

If you want to see these exact words, they are 2:18 into the video till 2:36.

What's wrong with phasing?   You're acting like it's sin...    I like it.   I wish there was more of it...    It's really depressing to do some quest, save the town or whatever and if you ever go back, it's still the same...
