Overall, I think the armor updates were a very good improvement to the game.
Black(t) looks great:
Not too keen on some of the colors, Rune coloring looks weird, but rune has always looked weird. I think most of the high lvl armor is too gray, black dhide is too gray. I also think range armor looks too much like melee armor now with the addition of sleeves. Would be nice to have range armor sleeveless.

The red on the dark mystic needs to be more red, less burgandy, more black and the hat does not match robes:
It is not even the same game I used to play. They have done so many updates in the last few years, you are a newbie all over again if you were maxed when you left. Too much to keep up with.
Every now and again I kind of miss Runescape. I really enjoyed all the crafting in that game too. The armors look fantastic. This thread has made me all nostalgic.....
