TERA: Launch Level Cap Will Be 60, Dungeons Shifting

BillMurphyBillMurphy Former Managing EditorMember LegendaryPosts: 4,565

In a somewhat random post on the official TERA boards today, Senior Producer Brian Knox confirmed that the NA version of TERA will be launching at the level cap of 60, which was previously 58 in the Korean version.  Additionally, current level 58 endgame dungeons will move up and down to spread the endgame content around for the late levels.

Knoxxer: Our max level will be 60 so all those 58 max level dungeons would have been a waste. We have shuffled them around -- some up and some down.

We will have more detailed information on it closer to open beta but it should create a much smoother progression to 60 as well as a good amount of content at level 60.

Read more from the thread over on the official site.

    this is an... odd choice.

Everything creates huge amounts of negativity on the internet, that's what the internet is for: Negativity, porn and lolcats.

They really need to work on having important announcements as their own sticky thread and not buried in some random person's post, if for no other reason than it derails the post.

This is not the first time they've done this.

There is nothing odd about it if you cared to inform yourself a bit, the reason for the level 60 cap is because EU/US is launching with the new T4 patch, which Korean is getting tommorow.

Yeah, seems like a nice choice.

It really is a waste of previous endgame content to stay at the previouos levels as so much games do and then pretty much noone visits those instances except for the main quests or something.

I think Aion will do something similar in 3.0, they'll reduce the difficulty of the instances of the previous lv50 cap and below (Steel rake and Dark Poeta at least). I just hope they'll also increase the drop rate, since before it was so sucky you could run them a 100 times and never get a set/weapon, by which time you'd be at level cap already lol.

This game too me by surprise. I logged in thinking it's just going to be another WoWsia. I had a great time playing beta. I haven't enjoyed a MMO in a long time.

There's a lot to like here.  Sure there are some parts which are "par for course", but the combat in group situations, the BAMs, and the PVP are all fun.  It may not end up being everything to everyone, but what game is?

Yep if they do things right this could very well be the dark horse of 2012.

I just wish someone had used some imagination when they made the quests.  They are all the same.  I do however enjoy the combat...
