DAOC had PvP/RvR done right, honestly, not much need to be improved on it.  About the only upgrade I see to what DAOC did during its prime is with Guild Wars 2 coming out with Server vs Server vs Server.  And I do think it's a good change to RvR because when people on the same server no longer have to fight against each other, they just may assist each other more than we see today where people only cared about themselves.  This may be a good step forward in getting people on the same server to work together and get along better.

DAOC had open RvR, castle sieges, instanced level based persistent battlegrounds, areas to level in that's away from PvP areas, areas to level & farm that's in contested zones, realm points anybody can work on casually, nice realm abilities that intice people to keep working their realm points, etc..   DAOC had it right, it's just too bad Mythic/Mark Jacobs sold out and went with EA's Warhammer Online rather than create a DAOC 2, which is what their fans wanted.  Now that Mythic is no longer Mythic, those that worked on DAOC no longer working in the same companies, we probably will never see a DAOC 2.
