    Sigh...

This is the case with, and I'll say it in caps, ALMOST EVERY SINGLE P2P MMO EVER MADE. Name me one P2P MMO that didn't require a subscription before you could play. JUST ONE. Go on, try it.

Seriously, are people really this moronic? I'm so sick and tired of folks like the OP bashing the game for just the stupidest reasons imaginable. Yeah, I know it's most likely a troll post, but I don't care anymore. All the SWTOR-bashing is just growing to ridiculous levels, and I'm sick and tired of it.

Don't like the game? Don't like the billing practices? Don't like the customer service? Then shut up and don't play, and leave the rest of us in peace to play.

Especially at this time of year, budgets are tight.  Some of you need to stop and use your noggin first before swallowing your foot in your reply.

Which is your responsibilty ulitmately if you don't check first before you buy. Feigning ignorance and then complaining after accepting terms isn't a defense.

Also as a lot of others have said you aren't charged now, all adding a credit card does it check it's a valid card for a subscription plan.  This isn't a new concept.  MMO's have done this for years, you aren't, 'paying' extra to access the game now. Cancel the plan before 30days and you aren't charged anymore.

Sorry but yours and the OP's hate for EA/Bioware is up to you but there not scrouging you this Christmas lol

Are you dense? if you enter a credit card without at least $15 on it, it will not take it.  Secondly, yes it says it requires a subscription on the box, but in very fine print.  I don't see any hate from the OP, just a disgruntled customer.  Nothing worse than people who use the "hate" word without one clue about how and when it applies.

    1)  Use a game card or pay with paypal.  You don't have to have a credit card

    2)  If your budget is tight, you shouldn't be buying a 60 dollar video game in the first place

    Your arguments are invalid

This must be a huge issue if there is almost 30 pages on this thread.  I feel bad for Bioware, loseing all these people because of a silly dispute over what the mmorpg genre has adopted but people fail to realize which has been standard since Iv ever known.

All I can say is SWG, WOW, Aion, Warhammer, all the past games I owned previously and played have all required an account of some sorts with plastic(debit/creditcard).

All it is are people that are new to mmorpgs that didnt know you needed the stuff required to play, thats whats happens when your attract new people into something, plus its harder for younger people to get it put togather without having to have someone handhold them which im sure is what alot of it is also.

I cant belive 30 pages long though, plus there are dozens of other threads as well.

Maybe we should think why those MMOs didn't arise this debate and SWTOR does.

Thats a good question, I think it could be a number of factors but to be honest I got no clue.  Age restriction, Star wars intelectual property, could be a number of things.

So to sum up this entire thread, people are mad they didn't read the terms of the agreement.

Didn't southpark do an episode on this?

Seems like you guys ended up a lot better off than kyle did in that episode, I'd be thankful.

They're losing a handful of kids who don't want their parents to know they bought an MMO with their holiday money.  Those kids shouldn't even be online in the first place.

They lost some amateur gold farmers in China who didn't have the experience and foresight to get whoever mailed them their copy of SWTOR to mail them a prepaid visa or time card with it.  Legit Chinese players with the $60 to spend on an MMO are not going to play and quit in one month, they'll find a way to activate their account with a CC or other form of payment.  The farmers will be reluctant to do so since they know their chances of getting banned before the first month is over are high and since they don't want any personal information linked to their activities.

They might have lost a tiny handful of players who are on a fixed income but then again, if those players had the money to buy the game for $60, in a month they'll likely have $15 to buy the sub, so while I feel bad for anyone in that situation who can't play their first month, it's not like they can never play in the future.  And again, someone on a fixed income would be unlikely to buy a game this expensive intending to only play for one month.

So all in all, no great loss.

What they didn't lose is players who legitimately intended to only play for a month then cancel (a strange bunch with more money than they have sense, obviously).  Those people can just buy a prepaid visa, then immediately cancel their sub and spend the visa money on something else, losing what, a couple dollars in fees?  That can't be a big deal to someone willing to spend $60 for a mere month of playing an MMO.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

only one? well just because i'm in the mood :), Aion, ragnarok, Lineage 2. you buy the key set your account, don't need to put a CC info there, pay the first month, till you put a billing info.

Heh , again i'm impressed on how this thread has reached 13 pages ...

It's like going to a restaurant that specializes in burgers and you bitch / moan because their hot dogs sucks... It's lame , pathetic and makes you look like an idiot.

Now as far as TOR goes on "forcing" people to pay, you got two (2 for the weak minded) choices , either pay up or quit. Because I highly doubt anyone is forcing you to "play" the game in the first place. So the way I look at it , it's not really a lost but more of a gain for the TOR Devs to have 1 less clown to worry about.
