I can see you haven't been around here too terribly long.  I wouldn't call our forum "mature" exactly, just old.  We're a pretty "young at heart" bunch, and that's my nice way of saying that we can certainly be juvenile sometimes.

Never met a pack of humans that were any different.  Look at the idiots that get elected every couple of years.  You really consider those guys more mature than us?  The only difference between us and them is, when they gank some noobs and take their stuff, the noobs actually die.

    Best political observation EVER. ^^^^^^

It's actually an observation about the human species in general.  Sad as that sounds.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

Ditto.  I'll be turning 53 this month, and I don't plan on giving up gaming anytime soon.  It wouldn't surprise me if there were some 60+ gamers out there.

    I am 66 years OLD.

One nice thing about being that old is I will die before MMO's get much worse.

Nawp, it looks like a one-tailed curve weighted on the old end.

Which means his mode value should be higher, or there should be more subdivisions in the post-40's, or both.

Are you seeing a different set of results?

I tried a 10 option poll with a decade as each option to get everyone under 100 as the poll options in this thread are a. Limited and b. Not Equal so a bit of a statistical nightmare, unfortunately the poll got locked my a Mod as a duplicate despite the preamble acknowledging this thread and explaining the reason for the duplication. I guess we will have to wait until this thread is history before we can try again

    Bell Curve see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaussian_function

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

But doesn't matter if this is a bell curve. OP made a good guess it seems as to have somewhat even distributions, aside from the lower value. I too thought there would be more younger people. I think now that this site is unrepresentative.

Actually, given that there are only four reliable data points (lowest age and highest age have no mean value, so the data is throwaway)--the best fit curve for the four data points is a straight line.

    y=.1943

Where x is any age of the four defined values and Y is the percent of the sample.  19-24's high, 36-41 high, all others low---it's a straight line or an inverted cup.

The margin of error for any curve fit is enormous though--not enough data.

Self-pity imprisons us in the walls of our own self-absorption. The whole world shrinks down to the size of our problem, and the more we dwell on it, the smaller we are and the larger the problem seems to grow.

No need, I'm fine with 42 as max since it's my age :p

I love how the words 'old people' keeps getting repeated in this thread Ha.  Believe me younguns, I did the same thing too, thinking how 'I got a loooong time yet'.  No joke the time does fly.  Now at 48 I used to think that was 'old' back in the day, and someday when I'm 78 I'll think how young I was back then.  I can say with some certainty when I hit 78, my mind will still feel like I was 18 just as I do now.....just don't ask me to run up and down a hill.

I will however game until my dying day or until my mind is gone whichever comes first.  And I soooo hope its a long long time from now, video games are to much fun! :)

Another thing that makes me chuckle is how some tweens/teens/twenty-somethings think that somehow they're going to buck the system and never age.  Never fear it will be here and much sooner then you will like too.  Prepare your mind now for that eventual day when some little kid will be running in the store and his mother will say 'careful of that old man'
