JorielJoriel Member UncommonPosts: 177

Theres a rumor that says gw2 is going to be released in january and "they" said it came from an arena net dev altought arenanet never says it offcially, basicaly when the last proffession is released the game is ready.

rumours are rumours.. from what i have heard beta has been going on for quite a while for now.

  • ZzadZzad Member UncommonPosts: 1,401

There is not possible confirmation for that "rumor".

Only Arenanet knows.....and they haven´t  announced yet anything about it.

I need more evidence before I believe anything about GW2's release date.

*Sigh* (-_-) Why did you mods decide to move this pointless thread here without closing it.

right now it makes sense to wait at least a day , to see if its something picked up from the convention, and then close it ;)

And how many times does Arenanet have to tell us that the results of the open beta will determine the release date, for people to be satisfied. Heck, not even SW:TOR has determined it's release date and it has been in beta for almost a year.

Honestly i have not waited for a game that says release date: N/A and it be in a couple month release i believe it will be way longer than you think there is no way GW2 doesnt know when it will be and it be in a couple months ill put my money in about 5 or 6 no lie

Yeah, and Gamestop told me I could buy a copy last November image

That's shows how long I've been following this game, to learn not to listen to this BS and wait for Arenanet's official word on the matter.

There is, without a shadow of a doubt, a speculation by some people that GW2 would be released in January. There also is, without a shadow of a doubt, a speculation by more people that it will not.

All of my posts are either intelligent, thought provoking, funny, satirical, sarcastic or intentionally disrespectful. Take your pick.

    Nobody can confirm this

But i have a feeling they want to launch January

    Thing is.

As I see both Diablo 3 and SWTOR heftily delayed.

    They will not feel compelled

So it will probably slip to April , as it always happens with MMOs launching in January

"They will probably want to release it in January, whether it will be released is another matter entirely. Wait and see, wait and see...

Waiting for Guild Wars 2, and maybe SWTOR until that time...

Well, since the release date isn't going to be officially set and announced until Open Beta proves the game is ready, this game will be the exception to your rule. I think the gap between the announcement of a release date and the date itself could be as short as 3 weeks.

I know many players feel frustrated by this, but look at the backlash TOR is experiencing where people feel that offering pre-orders with an expected December launch, then seeing that target slip was some how dishonest. Forget that no one should want a game to release when it's not ready, people are frothing at the mouth because they pre-ordered expecting to play in December and now have no idea when the game will eventually launch.

GW2 has been able to maintain hype and word of mouth is starting to ripple out. By being vague on the beta timelines and refusing to set a release date until after the start of Open Beta, no one is going to be able to complain that the release date has slipped.

We are maybe setting expectations ourselves, with some small hope of a release near the first of January, 2012 and a large percentage of fans feeling the game will be released by the end of February, but ANet is being smart in keeping their internal projections close to the vest. If the Private Closed Beta goes smoothly, ANet can quickly transition to Open Beta. If stress testing in Open Beta doesn't identify some serious issues and there isn't some big fan backlash against some element of the game, the gap between the start of Open Beta and launch can be very brief. However, if issues do arise at any of these stages, ANet can take the time needed to fix what needs fixing, with out an explicit or implicit release date breathing down their necks.

We may not even see pre-order details released until shortly before the point when they are ready to transition from Closed Beta to Open Beta.

Anyway, January release? I think it is extremely possible, assuming no issues arise in closed and open betas. However, the game will take as long as it takes and the most optimistic release targets will slip if more time is needed to get the game completely ready for launch.

The Guild Wars 2 Closed Beta will be a Private Beta, with no applications. It's mostly just an extension of the Closed Alpha, but with features and content finalized and final testing of release candidates beginning. So, the first real chance most of us will have to play Guild Wars 2 will be Open Beta.

Looking at that info and the possible timelines, I finally went ahead and pre-ordered Skyrim a couple days ago. Even if Arena Net shocks us with Open Beta in December, I'll at least get four to six weeks of Skyrim play before having to worry about swapping to GW2.

Now, Star Wars, The Old Republic, on the other hand. I pre-ordered that thinking I'd get a month or two before GW2 comes out. With TOR seeming to be slipping into 2012, I'm going to have to seriously consider dropping that pre-order, if release seems too close to the probable GW2 release. Or, I might keep the pre-order for the perks and just shelf the game and save my first free month until some much later date.

With no monthly fee, Arena Net can afford to have people trickle in after release, with out each month of delay meaning a month of potential subscription fees lost. Also, for people who can afford the box price and want to play TOR and GW2, there is really no reason not to buy GW2. People can check it out, if they are enjoying TOR more, they can put GW2 on hold, with out racking up monthly fees. Also, some people may find they like GW2 better and can then make a decision if they want to cancel their TOR subscription for a while and save some cash.

I'm just glad I'll have Skyrim to keep me busy, starting November 11th, while I wait for the TOR and GW2 releases. No matter what the timeline turns out to be, I know I'll be playing GW2 as soon as I'm able and TOR will be the game that loses if the release dates pop in the same month.

I heard a rumor from an incredibly reliable source that the game would be released/beta'd in November. I am still taking it with a grain of salt until I get a TOR style e-mail that has a big, bold, date.

Closed beta in 2011 and more than likely it will release sometime in 2012. Thats the best we got.

Myself also think the release date announcement will be very shortly after open / closed beta.

Anet will stress test server capacity and all stuff that needs to be done to ensure a smooth release.

I like the way they work by not telling us a release date wich then gets canceld over and over making people fed up and angry etc etc.

2011 release can be posible but very unlikely, it means they are encountering no problems and negative feedback wich is imposible when creating a mmo of this magnitude with so many Events and variables.

2012 Q1 is much more viable and gives Anet the time to polish the whole game and triple check a mega smooth release of their new diamond.

Patience is a virtue if you can afford it and Anet seems to have no presure of hungry $$$  wolves or stockholders laying down a barage of fire to speed up the release date to cash in asap.

Guildwars 2  will be BOSS in the new world order and even if you dont like mmo's it will prevoke you as a gamer with its colorfull world and rpg like playstyle :)

Better quit now before the wall of text starts to crit :P

January / February release is where i place my bet atm.

Arenanet has talked about closed beta being by the end of the year, but that could mean  it starts December 31st. It doesn't have to start next week or anything.

    You heard it here first.

Humm I just heard something similar about another and it seems the beta is the release or was there a planned beta between now and 12-20?

Me thinks that they will announce a release of 12-19 sometime next week. :)

no one knows but anet did say this

"Although we publicly alpha- and beta-tested the original Guild Wars while it was still in early development,

with Guild Wars 2 we will commence beta testing closer to the game's release

If they could manage to release GW2 as a finished, polished game in early November, I think they'd have the adult crowd buying it up as fast as they can get their wallets out.  It would definitely cut down on any delays in purchase due to the ToR release date.

Meanwhile, Trion execs would be crapping in their collective panties, although I suspect the ToR release date already has them bolting for the restroom on their way to the nearest freemium transition marketing and research firm (do those exist yet?).  Rift will go freemium before TSW comes out, I'd bet money on it.  Not much money, mind you.

RIFT sold over 1 million units in their first 6 months and I think theyll be fine as p2p
