What make you think that the hypocrisy will be gone? That is an honest question here.

Can you explain me please what kind of hypocrisy is now gone with this system.

Because i honestly don't see any difference if you buy through ebay or blizzard, does it make any difference? it doesn't to me at all. You'll still buy from the same guys/organisations most of the time anyway. So ?

i agree with u.and the real money AH have nothing to do to us .If we do not like that method we just use another method the drop and gold in game .Just play it the way we want and enjoy it.

I watched Blizzcon with a virtual ticket, they said, everyone will get a small amount of real money every week, not money which you can withdraw, but to cover the fee for putting stuff on RMAH, this means that everyone have a chance of getting to play with the RMAH at no cost at all.

However, if you plan on using RMAH for more than a few items each week, then you'd have to pay so that you can cover the fee.

How much each account get every week is to be seen, it's pobably not much, but get just 1 sale of a few bucks, and you'll have money on your account for more postings if you wish.

At first I hated the idea of RMAH, but i think it's really clever tbh, chinese farmers are without a doubt gonna spend money to post all their farmed crap, blizz is now getting a piece of that cake.

I love it with the RMAH, I dont have to buy anything, I can sell stuff if I get lucky.  The game will still be the best action game out there, with tons of replayability.

I played Diablo single player for 3 yrs, then played D2 for almost 7.  I sold plenty of items for real money, and it was a pain in the ass.  I am glad Blizzard added this feature

If they do do the a few free auction things a week it'll be alright, but  I'm not 100% on paypal so I don't know how it'll all go down exactly..

You have a certain number of free auctions for the RMAH. The in game auction house probably always costs a certain amount of in game money.

I can not remember winning or losing a single debate on the internet.

Also for those people actualy stupid enough to use the RMAH, How secure will it realy be?? i mean think about it. if alot of real money starts flying around D3 its going to attract hackers.. and fast!! And despite what you may think no mmo company relay has a great track record with game accounts. they are alwayes getting hacked, every day.  So if you have to link a bank acount or paypall or anything to pay for these items.. Guess what? you wake up one day try to log on to D3 only to find out that not only your account is hacked, but your bank 2.

This is a very legitimate concern in my eyes! Thanks for posting this.

    Why is it a concern?

Most banks has a physical place where you can produce documents (passport, citizenship, legal papers etc) to prove that it is you.

Also, just use pre-paid CC if you are that concerned.

I checked into getting pre-paid CCs. My bank does not offer them in an offline fashion i.e. the most secure way of going about buying them. That means I would have to pay for one online, which itself entails having to put my payment details online anyway. There is no real secure way of paying for online services.

I hope that Blizzard uses the best security possible for the internet, but even so, a dedicated hacker WILL eventually be able to break in if they want to. Something like the RMAH would be a fantastic target and they could potentially rob the CC details of very many people, whether or not these people can later on recoup their money by producing said documents physically to the bank after the fact.

In the end, someone will have to pay and who do you think that is? Saying that it is the bank who will end up paying for it, well where do they get their money from? They get it from us, their customers, whether the money comes directly out of our accounts or trickles down to us through increased fees, etc. It really is a case of robbing Peter to pay Paul...

The best way to avoid it is to simply not use the RMAH.

Yeah, the second best is by using a specialist in this as a middleman, like Paypal.

It is unlikely that paypal would be hacked and Blizzard more or less must support it.

But yeah, not putting your CC on the net is the only chance to be 100% secure, CCs over the net is a rather bad system.

You could also have a special bankaccount for online games and other internet trasactions, which you only put money when you have to, it is a bit expensive but is worth it if you buy much stuff online.

The thought process going on in this thread about pre-paid credit cards and Paypal as more secure ways to do online transactions is the same one I had last year when SOE got hacked and EQ2 offlined. Each has its drawbacks though that don't really make them that much, if any more, secure. Paypal is a huge hack target. The more people who use it and believe it is safe, the more likely hackers will go after it unfortunately. I remember Paypal having had problems in the past... somewhere in the mid-2000s.

It is extremely frustrating, but I think your idea of the special bankaccount is the best one. I came to the same conclusion that that might be the way to go and have a separate bankaccount for just my game subscriptions and the few articles I buy online.
