Most of the community wants them to take there time and make sure its extremely smooth and polished for launch.

I would take a guess and say the GW2 announcement will be rather soon considering TOR just announced.  Unless Anet decides to chill a bit and hope for the hubub around tor to fade a lil and try and release early/mid 2012.  Either way, It's a good time for MMO players boys and girls.

you can say how it looks so polished and s**** as much ass you want. doesn't mean it will be 100% polished when released.

take RIFT for example, looked so polished in the beta events, post release? we still have game breaking bugs in the raiding content (which is basically what the game is about completely)

"As polished as possible" does not mean 100%.  What game company these days releases without one or two bugs - or in the case of Bethesda, one or two hundred?  If we have to wait a few extra months to make sure beta runs smoothly and they can concentrate on the stuff they missed, fine.  But don't compare ANet to Trion.  They were probably just eager to get "RIFT: Planes of Totally not Azeroth" out of the gate.

First off let me say .."A Net do not release this game til you are ready". hehe sorry. But something this innovative needs to be done right .I have faith in them given there track record.

Maybe I am wrong but I thought they announced a while back that there will be no Open beta. That currently freinds and family have access to to betas, and they will do an extensive invitation only Closed beta before launch.I may have my wires crossed.Could be a completely different game I got that from. But GW2 keeps popping into my head when I think of that,

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibLCi7yXbyc from 5.35  colin explain the timetable from now and too release.

Nothing points at an announcement soon , as he says that first closed beta is going to happend, and the feedback from that is going to determinate when open beta happends. And the feedback from the open beta is going to be used for a descission when to release. Basicly he explain why they use the words "when its ready " because they really want to be able to use the betas to get the game right, and having time to fix what might show up is part of that!

The wait is over! Atleast for one title, so until GW2 comes out give that a shot.

GW2 would be wise to wait for a March release.  Swtor players will probably be bored by then and want to jump back into the fantasy worlds

As much as I would love to see GW2 release now, if anything is keeping it from being a standout and not just another bland, ho hum, linear, kill 10 rats, easy gear-grind game, I can wait until they fix it.  I will gladly wait.  Okay, not gladly, but with grim resignation.
