Yea, there is plenty one can find to be critical of Age of Conan, but lack of content is not one of them.

Hm..full AA tree, pvp Rank 10, T1, T2, T3, T3.5 and T4 clear, all Factions on Rank 4, all epic sets full and so in 100 hours? I have 155 days playtime on my main toon and I haven´t done everything yet ;)

The hate was from the premature release.  I returned to AoC a short while ago after playing it at release and it is like night and day.  At release AoC was so buggy it was unplayable, and it lacked a lot of the basic features (costumes etc.) that it now has.

This game is the perfect example of why companies shouldn't rush a game out the door.  A bad launch taints a game and many people will never retry it because of the bad experience they had before.  If Funcom had released it in the state it is now they wouldn't have had to go F2P to survive and they would be making a lot more money.

Compared to games like EQ2 and Wow it feels rather claustrophobic. I think world size is AoCs great disadvantage.

It is a really pretty game and the combat system feels different from the rest of the MMOs out there and since they fixed the bugs it is a must to at least try it, but Funcom needs to become faster at adding content.

Really??!! Even with the Turan package that just came out?? No offense but, aren't you being just a tadd eliteist if yo still say that AoC does not have enough content. It's damn hard to complete all content and rewards i AoC. I have played the game for 2 and 1/2 year now and I have still not done it all. Also, the Turan adventure package just came out. That adds even more to do.

BTW, have you tried the hardcore PvP servers? It's pretty violent, but fun :):):)

Ya really, Conan is very light when it comes to content.  If the game had a satisfactory level of content more people would play it but the quantity of places to go and things to do is way under par for a three-year-old MMO.  No idea what you did in that two and a half year period but you can see and do almost everything in the game in about 100 hours.  If there is a broken raid or something that you can't do then chances are not many are doing it anyway as the playerbase is casual.

One hundred hours? Com'on all the different zones and all their content? plus all the dungeons, 6 man dungeons, and raid stuff, plus all the expansion content and the PvP? One thing Age of Conan is not is light on content. The starter area Tortage itself will take a first timer over twenty hours, figuring an hour per level average, which would be  very fast. Tortage with all the instances is probably one 20th of the entire game content, or less.

    This!!

let me know when you have done Tier 3 of AoC or the Hard Mode dungeons in Khitai (which you can just forget to do till you have a considerable amount of AA feats and points). It takes a gooood while to even get close to the end in AoC, even if you ignore all the PvP content and the latest Turan Adventure Package.

Most of that is not content related, it is farming the same content over and over and there is not much of it.

You can level 1-80, do T1 and T2, do all the level 80 instances, do all the repeatable faction quests, do the one pvp mini game people do, and go mine shrines of bori in 100 hours.  Guilds don't full clear T3 or T4 on most servers so playing over 100 hours will never let you do what other people don't do.

For a three year game the content is very light and as you pointed out way to repetitive.  Most MMOs have farming but they also come out with new content at a reasonable pace.  Most of those raids are three years old and T4 was broken all year.

Edit: the raiding guilds have quit or disbanded in AoC and I doubt it was because of to much content, the FTP guys can't even raid so no new blood to replenish the ranks.  Go play an end game driven game like Aion, WoW, Everquest, Final Fantasy, or another and AoC doesn't compare as those games can  keep entire guilds busy all week long and keep adding new stuff.

Just goes to show anyone can post anything on a message board, no matter if it's accurate or not, whether it makes sense or not.

A person new to the game rolling a fresh character not using off line leveling, not cheating with power leveling, just playing the game, doing the quests, grouping when needed, spending time in the auction house (Trader) will take closer to 100 days to reach 80 than 100 hours. Even at that there will be areas of the game you won't see the first time through. For instance, if you roll a Cimmerian there will be areas in Stygia you will most probably not see on the road to 80. The areas that you do play in will have places and quests that you won't see, that will be missed. The game is just too big to do it all the first time, let alone in 100 hrs.

It is true that the game is not seamless. There are loading screens between zones. It is the price we pay for the amazing graphics and excellent detail poured into the game. But the zones themselves are not small, there is a lot of content in everyone of them, with instances and cities, towns, forts, and camps. Every zone is loaded with content, and packed with detail.

The part about playing an end game like Aion made me LOL. There is no end game there if you count doing forts as end game okay.On all servers they are elyos dominated. AoC def has more to do then that. Aion in this list was a bad choice and clearly you must have quit within the first 30 days of playing.

Anyways I just left Aion and resubbed to AoC and I am loving it. Just passing my time til Archeage.

lol 100 days to hit level 80.  I'm talking playtime, but if Age of Conan is taking 100 real days to hit cap it is because it is not great enough to keep them playing.  That is like an hour played every 3 days.  Also, AoC is very weak on leveling content, most games have multiple factions that each have a leveling path while AoC has three small areas after Tortage that most players do them all to get to level 40 and the new zone but after that the game is a straight line.  It took me 30 hours of casual play to hit level 80 over the summer. 100 days was a good joke though,  that would be 100 lonely days as there isn't much of a population to support grouping.

I didn't play Aion much but it is still ranked #13 on xfire while Age of Conan fell to #100 indicating it lost all the FTP players and then some.  Aion was to grindy for me but it did have a lot of places to go and has way more players now so it must have done something right.

AoC is finally wearing thin for me (I played it religiously for much longer than I thought I would) but the darn combat system has me spoiled.  When I try to play a traditional tab-target system now, I'm bored and really not amused.  I wish TSW were implementing something similar, but after reading up on the combo cancelling controversy, I kind of understand why they're not going full out AoC style with it.

Got a couple of rl friends to come try it with me as well and we ALL are amazed. The combat system is incredidle. Killing groups of 3 or more mobs by yourself and coming out victorious truly is sexy. The concussion effects during combat makes my heart jump!

Anyways for anyone wanting to know what it's like should def read this guide from the official website. Excellent and well written. Now i'm really hooked and have a lot to look forwards too.

I thinks I smell some BS here , you claim you never played AOC untill you picked it up a week ago ?  & then you freak out about how Massive the world is . How would you know how massive it is in one weeks play ? unless you played 24/7 & reached lvl80 you have no idea how big thew world is .

I am also playing AOC Unchained  & yes I am enjoying it  but after a month  I am still in the first town lol. & only lvl 17

Ok I was referring to massive after seeing the world map fist time after leaving Tortage. At first I was a bit overwhelmed but now I have discovered not all the places you see on the world map you can actually explore. i just dinged lvl 40 last night (been playing little over a month now) I know for a fact from talking to guild members it is very possible to reach lvl 80 in less than a week if you are a subscriber and know how to get powerlvled from guild members. Plus offline lvling. I ssaw a guildie go from lvl 20 to 64 in just under 3 days as I was playing off and on. Still the zones are huge and this is the first MMO I have ever played that actually has "mood" I love the detail and the game in general. And yes I have always been turned off from the game from reading all the trash talk on game forums. Sooo glad I finally broke down and tried it for myself. I daresay this just might be the best MMO I have ever played. It just seems more "adult" "mature" and unlike all those kid's games that all the rest seem to be. I have even stopped waiting for the next new games to come out and prob won't even care when they release as I am sure I will have only scratched the surface of this incredible game that is AoC!

Hey Wender how about being our offical time keeper? You been playing for a little over a month and are at LvL 40. Keep track of how long it takes to get to 80. Just playing normal, no off line leveling.  I don't think you will be at 80 in another month, because 40 to 80 takes longer than 1-40. The early levels go fast. Like 1-10 can be done in a few hours, but 40 -50 is another story.

It took me about 3 months to get a character to 80. That is regular playing like 3-6 hours in the evening and longer time on weekends. I was really into the game so I played it pretty regular.

The general experience with people having these kinds of issues is that they at some point decided to go coocoo just before leaving the game.... You see, it can sometimes be smart to think a bit ahead. No need to burn all bridges, just because you want to put a game down for a while.

I bought the game around 5 months or so after launch. Played my free month and maybe one month more, dont really remember. Saw what the game offered, or rather what it didint offer at the time and cancelled my sub and uninstalled. I thought since ive been hearing some good things about the game I would give it another go. Sorry I couldnt include some drama in my story but thats how it went. Ive read about the massive bans Funcom inacted but I was gone from the game a year or more when that happened. Oh well, they will figure it out or not.

Really? This game sucks and Im not having fun? Im going to unsub right now. Thanks for the tip.
