Ok maybe for the author porn is so important for him but I would wager that for most gamers, having a comfortable place where you can sit on your favourite couch/chair and access a platform that can do so much more than just play games (yes, porn being one of those) is far more useful than having a silly console which does not have a mouse, keyboard but a stinking useless controller.
Consoles are just a small subset of what a full fledged computer is and I dont care that big money corps make more money on console games, there will always be a market for desktop computer games so it is not going anywhere.

First off, I love my PC. I game on my PC and avoid consoles at all costs.
If I am forced to play on a console because a game came out that I just have to play, I play it and trade it in as fast as I possibly can.
I am a woman, console controllers are hard to manage in my small hands. They weigh too much, are too big and in general are massively hard to handle. Yes, they have smaller ones, but who tests these? Why is facebook popular to women? Because it's on our computer...where we can type to our friends, use the keypad and happilly click away at our games. NOT because we are old or unhappy or anything else. Women love to game, but consoles are a HUGE turn off. No, I am not speaking for all women, but I am speaking for a large number that I know personally and have spoken to on this topic.
Why do I play MMO's? Because it's on my PC, not a console. Lets talk about the MMO's that have come out for the console AND the PC...oh, wait...Final Fantasy...UBER fail.
As for Ipads and all the other touch type screens. No issues there...just give me a keyboard I can attach and I have no issues. Just DO NOT give me a controller.
I need to add one small note...cause there was one game, I played regularly on a console and loved it. Rock Band. Course, I did not need to use the controller much and the guitar had the same issue for my small hands...but that's ok, it was a blast anyway. But...the music is gone from consoles and that makes me sad. But everything, eventually, must come to an end.

Unbelievable article that started out as funny and even entertaining has to digress into something that I see happen far too many times in articles related to the console vs pc contrast. If you're too shallow to understand why PC's will really always be around, and really think that "polishing your 'precious' " is really the reason for PC preference in some genres of gaming, Apparently you may be revealing just a little too much about your personal past times.
Perhaps you should re-think your approach to writing on the internet.
Another thought is that going into a gamestop and finding very few pc games is not evidence whatsoever. Fact is, that if you're a pc owner and want a game, you needn't go to gamestop at all, or any brick and mortar store at all! Many if not most pc gamers today will buy digitally. Even in the exceptional case like mine - I like my boxed copies - I still don't have to buy in a store. Go online (amazon.com, walmart... etc) I can still keep my traditional delivery of the game. So that point does nothing to support that console gaming is bigger than pc gaming.
The only thing PC's are better at then per say Ipads, Ipod Touch , etc, etc are 3D online games. First they are a clutter pile. I love how little space my laptop uses. Secondly the WoW style mass world gaming market is dieing and developers like Zynga are capitolizing on it. Consoles are the best option from a production/sustainability standpoint. Building for speciifc systems makes it easier for everybody.
With the exception of server clusters there is no use for our old PC setups. The gaming market probably makes up less then 5% of all PC users. Business users will all carry Ipad style machines instead of laptops. Businesses don't need individual CPU just a network with terminals. I've replaced my PC with a laptop and ipod 4th gen touch and i can do anything i need to do on either. My laptop cost me less then some graphics cards i purchased before did.
The gaming market is about as stale as American TV is. They just remake titles with new actors. Though i don't own one , consoles are the future of 3d gaming and not PC's. Most of us old timers played games on consoles way before we saw games on PC.s . Personally speaking as far as PC are i'd rather be sitting on the couch doing what i do using an ipod or ipad then even my laptop. Micro computers are the future and for gaming that is console. Just how it is.

PC gaming all the way for me, that is how I prefer the experience, as for some shops not selling PC games anymore on the shelf, is simply because now days we download most of them, through Steam and other similar places, or even directly from the Develloper's website.
Most (if not all) F2P MMORPG's come without a box and many P2P ones as well, so as technology evolves some ways of doing things change allong however but that dosn't mean that PC gaming or computers for that matter are comming to an end.
As for cell phones and Pads, these are added value accessories, that slowly replace some other activities but again, I really do not beleive will replace the experience one gets from playing a game on a Computer.
Besides, I would really like to see someone conducting a WoW raid from their Cell phone now heh (albeit not impossible), it would simply not be the same experience.
The point is that we simply have more tools at our disposal now days, but still each tool fills a specific role, and the Computer's role is far from being eclypsed or in any danger from being replaced by something else.
If Pads become popular enough to represent potential profit for many companies, then pads will also become more powerfull and we will probably see many PC games also offered within that medium, then again, we will still have to be able to plug, a headset, a joystick, a keyboard and a mouse to this portable screen in order to maintain the experience of playing a game on the PC.
On the other hand, pluging a keyboard and a mouse in to a Pad..dosn't that make it a PC?
So in reality maybe in the future the two will simply merge, when at home plug your Pad in to a support docking station that is connected to a keyboard and a mouse, and when leaving home, just unplug the Pad and put it in your bag...and use its touch screen UI while on the road.

The console market is definitiely dominating the gaming industry but PC's will be around for quite some time. What I actually forsee is the gaming console, settop cable box and the desktop PC eventually becoming an all-in-one entertainment unit (with voice and motion command).
