Possibly the best thread, some great articles and the EVE community are linking new articles as they appear.

You know, there's an old saying, "there's no such thing as bad press"

Wouldn't it be a kick in the teeth if subs actually went up in the longer term because of all the press.

I know in my own case I largely ignored EVE until I read about all the Dev scandals regarding BPO trading and that led me to ultimately try and pay for 3 subs (up to 4 now)

In my day MMORPG's were so hard we fought our way through dungeons in the snow, uphill both ways.

Still currently "subscribed" to EVE, and only EVE!!!

Yes there is such a thing as bad press, especially in this case because it could put future players off if they remember the game as being a rip off and a laughing stock.

Would you buy a car or a TV or just about any other consumer product or service if you saw dozens of articles and news stories about how terrible they where?

Of course some people do but they also eat crayons and lick windows.

    Currently playing:

EVE online (Ruining low sec one hotdrop at a time)

    Gravity Rush,
    Dishonoured: The Knife of Dunwall.

    (Waiting for) Metro: Last Light,
    Company of Heroes II.

EVEs cornerstone was the long standing community though.  Those of us who paid for multiple accounts and stuck in there long term.  It still is a game for a small niche of the market and MT does not change that.  It only pisses people off.  I think in this case it is bad press.
