I'm looking forward to Guild Wars 2 and I'll play that till ArcheAge comes out.  Depending on how I like Guild Wars 2, I'll probably keep playing it.  But, best place to start to find out some info on it is to watch some videos on Youtube about them.  Lots of good looking gameplay for both games.  Also just google both games to find their home pages.

Archeage, GW2 looks good too though.

Archeage I'd sell it to you with freedom.

Build houses, gardens, farms, cattle, villages - cities with fortification. The questing and dungeons you know and love. Big sea fights and monsters. Beautiful graphics and world physics like climbing ropes, building destruction. Open world pvp and battlegrounds but with a real punishment system for repeat pkers.

    ArcheAge.

The only MMORPG I'm waiting for.

Wow, Im impressed with number of people actually mentioning ArcheAge. I guees there is more info out there about this game than what I thought, I have only found a few things here and there and although it looks promising I haven't seen enough info to want it that badly.

For me its GW2 I loved GW and this game looks VERY promising.

In the past few weeks we've been getting quiet a bit of information but the CBT3 will be the big eye opener for the current state (3/4 of a year before release?!)

With the list of features combining sandbox and themepark in a casual friendly way yet with big features like the 3rd continent to please hardcore players I'm not supprised in the amount of interest its getting at the moment.

I see, I will need to look at what comes out of CBT3 since I tend to not get too exited for games unless 1. I have played a prequel of the game(GW for GW2) and loved it or 2. I see actual footage, reviews, previews of hands on experience. A list of features in a piece of paper is a piece of cake, even I can do that ;). But nailing the execution is what counts.

This is kinda a hard question. The game that look best that I actually have a lot of information about is GW2 but WoDO might actuaklly become even better, hard to say since the information about it is kinda scarce.

There are several other games as well that seems to have good potential, but GW2 already have a polish few if any other MMOs can match, both in the making and released. It's engine have already been done for almost 3 years, unlike the other games that finnish it at the same time they are doing the final touches of the game, and the engine is coded by Strain.

The thing with WoDO however is that I know a lot about the guys who write the story for it, I have a feeling we will see some epic intrigues, together with a lot of sandbox features and pen and paper ideas.

You are right to be cautious, although I have to say that what XL Games are promising looks quite exciting on paper, more than any "next big thing" I read before.

I generally hate Asian MMOs, Archeage though, is the only Korean MMO that got my attention immediatly.

For example, I read about Tera and to me it will be Lineage 3 (Aion was Lineage 2.5) so I quickly passed on it.

But Archeage looks so much different from other Korean stuff, in fact so much different from anything else, that is worth to be excited about it.

ArcheAge- No one game in recent years has gotten me quite as excited, even when looking at the game with a fairly harsh "worst case scenario" POV (i.e. everyone plays it like WoW, middle conenant having no one outside my personal circle there, meaning at least my friends and I can slowly build the area in a meaningful way and kill each other).

Star Wars: The Old Republic- Mainly looking at this as a single player RPG with MMO features. If you're looking to get your feet wet again, this one's looking pretty softcore. It seems to offer to good solo experience and have some grouping, but unless there's something massive hidden up Bioware's sleeve, I can't see myself playing it too long.

Tera- I like what I've seen of the combat system. Sorta reminds me of Monster Hunter Tri, a console game that could allow up to 4 people to play together to kill monsters for their parts in order to make armor/weapons/housing items. It claims to have some sort of sandbox features, but I haven't heard any specifics yet. Combined with fixed classes that can't be switched (Unlike in Monster Hunter, where changing your weapon or bringing certain items allows you to change your playerstyle and group dynamics), it's probably best for folks tired of the "2-2-3-4-5-2-2-1-2-2-3..." type of combat MMOs are sort of known for.

Guild Wars 2- Think WAR mixed with GW1. The world's less instanced, but you can still transfer servers (called worlds now), but the rate's unknown. NPC and player towns can actually rise and fall based on your actions. Similar to AA, the game is trying to do away with the tank requirment for groups, but while AA retains the class as an option as just one of many potential strategies used in pve situations, GW2 will have no damage absorption class at all, instead relying on crowd control being given to all classes. While some can form CC via walls can be used for some creativity, I personally worry about your average WoW heads who, after 5+ years, still focus on damage meters rather than group progress.

Blade & Soul and Guild Wars 2 are both looking quite good. I just poked into ArcheAge today, seems like your generic fantasy MMO with shiny graphics, but meh. To each his own.

Guild Wars 2 - Because I loved Guild Wars

    Blade & Soul - Because I saw a Destroyer

I'm not in to the open PvP... so I'll leave ArcheAge off my list.

I'd say Guild Wars 2, The Secret World, and Copernicus are the three I am watching. Guild Wars 2 just looks fantastic in many ways and right now seems like the best possibility of being a game I could play for a long time. The setting, story, and lore of The Secret World is really intriguing, and I'll be interested to see how the no-classes / no-levels approach to character advancement ends up working out for them. Just the idea of running around modern-day cities with swords, guns, and magic and fighting mythical creatures...yeah, I'll try that. Copernicus I'm mostly watching because of the people involved...You kind of have to pay attention when you hear who's working on the game.

Blade & Souls has some interesting things to it but I can't get over the fact that it's pornstars for characters.....

    Heh, interesting question.

I'm going to list the AAA MMO's that are there to look forward to and give the key selling points (imo) for each: image

GW2: lots of innovation in game design and features, gorgeous graphics and art design, and all this for B2P so playable next to a subbed MMO

SWTOR: most probably the largest amount of content and biggest world of any of the new MMO's, KOTOR-level of mission gameplay, and the powerful mix of Star Wars and Bioware with all the result that such a strong combination can bring

ArcheAge: the first truly AAA (hybrid) sandbox MMO since SWG, with cutting-edge graphics and mechanics and a long list of PvP and PvE sandbox features

The Secret World: a different breed of MMO, with a non-scifi/fantasy setting, more of an modern world fantasy/horror MMO,  no classes/levels, nonstandard combat and high visual quality

TERA: great visuals, political system, innovative, action oriented combat that is a break from traditional MMO combat

World of Darkness: not much is known, but the combination of CCP (makers of EVE) and the modern gothic 'Vampire the Masquerade' franchise is a powerful one.

And not really an AAA title, but worth mentioning:

Firefall: a true MMOFPS, where massive assaults and invasions can happen even into safe towns.

The ACTUAL size of MMORPG worlds: a comparison list between MMO's

The ease with which predictions are made on these forums:
Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."

As far as I know Archeage will have 2 continents where you'll be safe.

Archeage for me. I'm a bit interested in GW2 too, but probabely it will be too themepark for me.

Thing is that we cant deside which mmo really is good.

every mmo has his own unique espect, so you should search for your self what you really like.

GW2 because I'm absolutely done with old-school and everything between it and now. New is good.

SWToR for the reason that I've always wanted and enjoyed playing single player RPGs in multiplayer co-op. ...many fond memories playing Baldur's Gate trilogy in LAN with friends.

Any title that can grasp even a fraction of the feel that one gets from playing P&P games. I don't mind if it is not a game at all but a tool you can use to play a P&P game online with your friends. I'd pay for one. Perhaps not a monthly fee but still.

My eyes are glued on The Secret World.  The story and all of the conspiracies are right up my alley and I can't wait to see how they are implemented into the game.  I know the combat system will take getting used to (as does any combat system Funcom puts out) but I also know I've always like Funcom's combat systems.  If you like PVP there will be 3 factions so Im imagining there will be a form of open world pvp where 3 factions can fight for control of certain areas....that would only make sense.

Guild Wars 2 would be my second but Im still skeptical.  I played Guild Wars 1 and I still dont understand how people considered it one of the best games available.  It was pretty standard fair other than the PVP (I dont PVP).  But, i did not play the expansions so I could have missed out on quite a bit of content.   I just never found the game to be great or anything....just standard.

Star Wars I have very low hopes for.  I understand its Bioware, but when is the last time Bioware made an MMO?  When is the last time Bioware made a game that felt like an MMO (think Bethesda games with gigantic open worlds).  Bioware was never really known for having huge open worlds or anything.  I just can't see them successfully making the crossover.  I really think that Knights of the Old Republic Online will resemble DCUO's progression but with a Star Wars background....good luck to all you die hard fans.

TERA = Asian game...just not my style...dont like the look of Asian games all that much...everything is too glamorous.

The other games I havent paid enough attention to.

As for MMORPGs, well... I DO want to play GW2,for sure, but the big one for me is Archeage. Right now it seems to offe rso much, we will see how it works out.

No others hook me at all, especially considering things like Skyrim are coming up.

I'll be playing Star Wars: the Old Republic, TERA, and Guild Wars 2. (That's sort of the order I expect them to come out).
