Square's Financial Forecast Is Not Good

firefly2003firefly2003 Member UncommonPosts: 2,527

Square Enix has revised its expectations for its fiscal year ending this past March, with losses over 15 billion yen.

The company cites a variety of factors including "a more prudent estimation of future cash flows," a more selective choice of games – including projects cancellations (like Gun Loco), and damages incurred from the recent earthquake and tsunami.

It's unknown if the rest of the culled games or projects are already announced titles or simply nascent ideas that haven't been revealed to the public. It'll be interesting to see what else drops out of Square's upcoming roster, whether that's old Eidos games it's taken on or even one of the zillion Final Fantasy projects in the works.

Maybe its time for them to go back to their roots and make RPG and Adventure games? Perhaps give Final Fantasy fans what they want finally the Final Fantasy VII remake and VI. Return to the Chrono Trigger series perhaps? Another Mario RPG game. Just some ideas for them to make money......

    A final fantasy VII remake?

That would not just take years to come by, but a lot of money for the very same population to buy the very same game they already owned. The majority who would purchase the game are those who truly love the game.

Now I am all for a Final Fantasy Remake if and only if under FF VII they could do a few things:

    1) A real full translation and not the half baked job we got in 7.

    2) A much longer game.

Midgard was really nice and unfortunately the only real part in the game that was truly engaging. Every other part in the game was very sporadic in the sense you went from waypoint to waypoint doing one thing at a time. I personally thought outside of the cities and raising chocobos that the game world was pretty empty.

Not to say I did not enjoy the game itself. Unfortunately, males craving final fantasy because of Tifa and Aeris does not, a final fantasy game make...I've always said that the name Final Fantasy would be a great name for a pornography.

Square has lost a lot of money, but as usual, they will get it back from their own japanese cash shops through add-on packs to their Final Fantasy rereleases. Of course if they did rerelease FF7, it will be a Japanese Only game...as most square rereleases that are any good really stay in Japan.
