2nd Anniversary Diamond Fiasco

That is what the effected players of Runes of Magic are calling it.

On March 19th on the 2nd Anniversary of Runes of Magic, Frogster America the company behind the game had many celebrations.  One of which was 500% exp bonus, and other surprises that were given out as players logged in to their accounts. In the past year these bonuses and surprises start out a few days before and lasted over the weekend.  And everyone knew on the day of their Anniversary a GRAND surprise or bonus was given out!

This year players who went to purchase Diamonds found that they were offered much more diamonds for their $$ dollars than normal.  Initially offered for the weekend celebration was 110% more diamonds, and what players found on the day of Runes of Magics Anniversary was an additional 150% more diamonds. The way that the games Diamond Recharge system works, it will show you how many diamonds you get, for how ever amount of real life $$$.

For example, on this weekend I saw this.

$21,99     19.03.2011     1050 2625 Diamonds / strike> 1050 Diamonds

This is what is seen and still is seen on the receipt.  They are saying you are not going to get 1050 diamonds, instead we will give you 2625 diamonds.

That was for $21.99, some players spent hundreds of dollars. The diamonds were delivered, and players who received them spent them. Some players would hold onto some of the diamonds for later on.

What happened was that Frogster America had made a mistake.  They didn't want players to actually receive that amount of diamonds.  At this point the damage was already done. What Frogster America did to resolve the issue is inexcusable.  Frogster proceeded to have their GMs to start disabling and temp banning players while they went into their accounts and REDUCE/TAKE AWAY their diamonds.  They called this procedure an adjustment. They adjusted anyone who didn't spend all of their diamonds. Those who bought diamonds during the sale and spent all of those diamonds were not effected. The ones who saved their diamonds for a rainy day, had them removed or reduced.  They claim it to not be the advertised amount and that it was necessary to protect the games economy.

Their advertised price was on their Diamond Recharge page, along with the BUY NOW button.

Those who disputed their Credit Card charges had their accounts banned.  Those who put in tickets were told too bad or had/still is having their complaints ignored.  Those who went onto the Runes of Magic forums in protest, met with moderators who were given direct orders. Those orders were to ban/lock any thread that involved the matter.

Then Frogster announced their point of view and also their compensation... they would give those who fell victim to the Reduction, a title that they gave everyone with their newsletter.... This was a title that looked horrible to those who have been playing the game for the past 2 years.

As far as I am concerned, Frogster took my money in good faith. I would expect what I paid for, not bait and switch.

Here are official post and some threads that are locked and still about.

What, Frogster acting like assholes? Nah, not possible, they're a fantastic and competent company that cares about their customers...

But seriously, what did you expect from the same company that threw their Turkish customers to the curb without a second thought?

Frogster is a horrible company, and I for one refuse to play any game with which they are involved.
