It's more than a public health issue.  In the United States (I won't presume to speak for cultures I'm not familiar with), we have a culture that abhors needless cruelty to animals and seeks to limit what people can and can't do with their animal property, whether that property be unconsenting (such as in a starvation case) or consenting (such as animals who are bred and actually willing to fight).  Why do we also tolerate animal cruelty in the slaughtering process?  Same reason we abhor terrorism and torture when individuals and other nations do it, while turning a blind eye when our country does it.

I would be what you might call a " furry hater". I prefer to talk to " humans" and think that anything to change  your characters into something else should be applied via wardrobe. You want to look like a dragon? Get armor that makes your character look like a dragon. Want to be a bear get armor that makes you look like a bear, or even you could add " morphing" objects rather than all these nonsense playable races. want to look like an elf? get spock ears, easy enough to add the content that way rather than make a ton of races to suit every whim.

By moving character appearance changes like that over to " wardrobe" and allowing player appearance to have absolutly nothing to do with ability, say allow all items to be socketable to add armor/ weapons strengths and weaknesses via crafting rather than have presets you open up the ability to expand and change character customization at any time. It allows for much more content, and also allows for an enhanced level of camoflauge on the battlefield.

 Furry MMO Does not have anything to do with perverts and animal sex!!!! There are perverts everywhere you go and 99 percent of them are online and most of them are on MMORPGS....    I'm not saying that is what makes up the community , i'm just saying that they will be in any game everywhere, especially in the MMORPG genre.

 

I like Furries, but not because I want to have sex with furries or animals.  I love animals and would be pissed off to see anyone abusing an animal in such a way. This is the kind of game for us friends of the animals.   Sure there will be some pervs that play the game, just like pervs play AION or any game, but what about people that actually like animals????  I have cats, they are good company and alot more friendly than most people I konw, I have a dog aswell. What is the problem with an MMO featuring furry animals? 

 

I guess maybe some people have a lil guilt going on here?

I don't understand it, we play games to escape reality yet people want to limit our games because of a few undesirable people in society.  If you don't like somebody just ignore them. Most people are gonna think you're a guy anyhow, even if you have a female toon.

I am a proud member of the ASPCA I can handle seeing furry toons all over the place without getting excited about it.  Now I am sure that this brings back memories for you, but you should put all that in your past. As I was saying, introducing armor options and player crafted stats would open your preference up to the " rest " of the games. Though it appears it would be too hard for you to  actually read what I wrote about that.. you just see that I hate furries and assume I have to be some creepy dude whacking off to toons or have some weird phobia. Other than the fact that a furry game would probably attract even more squirrley guys trying desperately to get a nut, though, a game where all avatars are animals wouldn't bother me, as long as it was fun.  I was perfectly happy in WoW with my female tauren druid.  I also don't recall that I ever got hit on while playing her either, though!

 Actually , I didn't bring this up at all. I just went to the post and happen to like the idea, than all of a sudden people assume that pervs are going to be playing it. Well ,if they aren't playing this game they will be playing FF14 or AION. Hell I have had a few bothans hump my leg in SWG. So what is your point?

 

The games they do have out there are low quality and not worth my time.  They need to have a decent game out with good graphics and good content, good pvp, and gameplay to keep me interested.

I know the OP has probably brought alot of these anti furry comments on themselves, you can see that maybe they do have a fetish just by reading their posts. But I however do not have a fetish. I grew up with disney cartoons that had plenty of animals in them talking. Wouldn't mind seeing an MMO featuring animals instead of the usuall crap we always get.

I don't understand it, we play games to escape reality yet people want to limit our games because of a few undesirable people in society.  If you don't like somebody just ignore them. Most people are gonna think you're a guy anyhow, even if you have a female toon.

If you don't like furries than you don't have to play our furry MMO. How about that? I happen to be a big fan of our fair weathered furry friends. I am a proud member of the ASPCA I can handle seeing furry toons all over the place without getting excited about it.  Now I am sure that this brings back memories for you, but you should put all that in your past. Was a long time ago, that dog is probably dead by now. Just clear your memory of it and move on.

As I was saying, introducing armor options and player crafted stats would open your preference up to the " rest " of the games. Though it appears it would be too hard for you to  actually read what I wrote about that.. you just see that I hate furries and assume I have to be some creepy dude whacking off to toons or have some weird phobia.  I consider a troll a furry as well. It doesn;t matter if it is a dog, a troll, an ogre- to me it is all creepy. LOL But that is just my opinion, not saying you have to agree with it.

But as I said before, if you want to incorporate this into other games it would be easy to do so through wardrobe, and you wouldn;t have to focus the entire game around the "furries" lol

I do not think you are going to get the quality game you are looking for by making this it's " niche" rather if you truly want quality, you could make it  a part of other games rather than the focus.

 Yea, but you see. To me I don't plan to have sex with cartoons regardles of wether they are human or non human so this is a non issue. I can see where you are coming from. YOu like to have sex with humans and you think that the closest thing you can get to it is your toons on aion. So you are offended by the idea that people that want a fantasy game with animals would want this, because you think that they are like you and want to have sex with pixels on a computer screen.
