World of Warcraft is the original creation of God. Real Life is in fact a WoW clone.

It seemed sorta boring to me and had that re-run feel to it, ala WoWish... but don't they all anymore *sigh*

It's similar to WoW, but it's even more repetitive and I didn't care for the storyline. It felt a bit empty to me.

Somewhat decent theme to it, but the gameplay was very crappy. I played it for about one hour and it felt like every other MMO out there so I stopped.

    Graphics - decent

Gameplay - sorta like cutting the lawn with nail clippers.

Still, I think it's still free to download and play, so why not give it a shot and decide for yourself?

Simplistic, which isn't a bad thing in and of itself, but I like something a bit more intricate.  As always these days, it's grindy.  It was INFESTED with gold-sellers when I tried it, and at the time the ignore function wasn't really implemented.  When it was, the messages were whizzing past so fast that only after I'd managed to block about 10 of them that the chat became reasonable.

It's worth playing just to hear the music at the starter town. It's hilariously bad! Gameplay is very familiar with nothing to distinguish it.

  • MadDemon64MadDemon64 Member UncommonPosts: 1,102

i found it nice.  Graphics are the best I ever seen in a F2P, and the gameplay is fairly good.  There are admittedly some things that I find annoying, namely the quests that give you rewards that give you items you can buy in the cash shop (exceedingly low drop rates), but other than that, an enjoyable game.  And mahlo, don't diss the music, it is amazing.

Since when is Tuesday a direction?

I am impressed with the character creation, and the starting tutorial. It will keep you wanting to play the game. The character creation and customization has a very warhammer online feel to it. Which is good in my opinion, it shows the high level armors and everything. The Horde or Destruction or Evil Side IMO is pretty awesome and has a nice tutorial though on the alliance, order, good side IMO has a superior choice of characters or thatmay not be the right words to use, I guess the right word to use is Unique.

It is a good F2P game I would reccomend checking it out!

The Cons - After the tutorial and when your brought into the world with other players be prepared to quest and endless grinding.

    - The music is terrible, once you get into the city area you will understand! XD (though thats the one and only place iv been so far)

ROFL. Totally agree. That music is so bad it begs to be muted.

some of you guys who are telling your opinion based off 1 hour of gameplay, your comment  irrelevant and wasting everyones else time whose very curious to know.

For all new players and people who played it only for 1 hour, you really wont see the main content of this game until level 10. Like many other games such as FFXI, you wont notice the main content of the game til you are lv15 (party base gameplay).

Anyways IMO ive been enjoying it so far.  It is absolutely the opposite of WoW (the smallest things) and the only thing similiar is a SKILL TREE which is in MANY OTHER GAMES have.  The character growth is based heavily on Equipement and Rubies. The one skill tree you see at first is just  the foundation of your class; depending on your RACE and ARCHTYPE, each of them have a little difference in spells/skills privately for them.  On top of that, Rubies are for a 3 page SKILL TREE which either enhances your foundation, characters stats, or add new skills/spells <--however you wanna branch off..  And leveling to get skill points added to your stats means nothing; equipments really matter most as youll be busy changing armor alot to test where you are at best with your character.

Do you feel like you level too slow? thats because you didnt know this game has a FATIGUE exp feature. Everything you kill, you get regular EXP points but you also get FATIGUE points which grows along with your reg.EXP bar but alot FASTER. so i can say i  treat FATIGUE exp as an added bonus for my effort to play the game because when you go to an inn and rest, those fatigue exp becomes regular exp.  kinda makes me feel like im grinding for the fatigue points rather then regular exp haha

Quests do have some grinding, but questing is the best way to go for EXP and REPUTATION points. u need reps for exclusive equipes.  theres alot of quests in the game, some are boss related which will require parties or raids, some requres some grinding and theres reputation grinding where you get into a raid to rinse and repeat repeatable quests for rep points.  quests are heavy to the point people are convinced to party with other to do it quick as quest reward gives the biggest bang, and grinding like zombie by yourself or without questing is just a brain drainer (like it always was)

theres also ship battles too but i have reach to that point yet.

so yup these are the things that got me hooked so far.. if you like what you read, go ahead and try the game. just  make sure you hit level 10 before you criticise the game please....

there is ONE CON i dislike is that some quests i think are set up to convince players to spend cash at ITEM SHOPs.

example: if you start do a BAG quest, do it when your at a much higher level because it takes nearly forever and impossible to complete because they are really scheming to get you to spend real money on the ITEM SHOPs... <-dont let that discourage your from playing the game because it make you feel like your grinding too much in general.

I'm taking classes this summer, so I dropped my subscriptions to the p2p games I'm into... partly to save money but also to avoid the distraction.

This is the first f2p game that I've really been able to get into.  I have a couple of low lvl toons, one on each side.

It's defintely worth giving a try.

I have been playing for a while off and on. I have a level 20 Orc Brute. Here are my points on it...

    Pros

    1. The graphics are nice, better than WoWs for sure and the designs (weapons, armor, monsters) are pretty cool.

    2.  Not all of the races are your run-of-the-mill fantasy races

    3.  Level 20 and I have yet to spend a dime so I am not sure why people say it's expensive. Maybe at levels above 20, can't speak to that since I have no experience there.

    4.  You can't solo everything, you WILL need help on certain quests. (this may be a con for you depending on your play style)

    5.  Mostly good music, although I agree with others on that in-town music for the Empire.

    6. Definitely the most polished F2P I have ever played (and I have tried a LOT of them)

    7. New content on the way (mounts and a new area for sure, not sure what else)

    Cons

    1. The quests can indeed get VERY repetitive and grindy. I do agree with others on this. (This is why I play it off and on, I take a break and go back. But since it's free...I lose no money doing this)

    2. It is a lot like WoW (although I personally think it's different enough to play)

I'm sure others will nto agree with me on these points, but this is my 2 cents.

Allods is generally an OK game but it has a few flaws. For me the slow combat and lack of an auto attack turned me away pretty quick but others can get over that. Certain quests are unbalanced, where some are too easy, some are annoyingly hard which isn't including the raid quests. The reason people will tell you the game costs a lot of money is cause in the late game it will. Currently there is a system where when you die you get a debuff that lasts a certain time x your level. At max level this equals to like 2 hours and with that debuff you can't raid or PvP so you have to buy cash shop items to remove it, and this happens everytime you die so you must keep buying it to avoid the 2 hours time loss. The new system they are adding now instead of making you useless for 2 hours, adds a debuff to your equipment that if you die often enough that it will destroy your stuff and you got to spend money to remove that as well. So, that is why people are a little uneasy about it since the debuff even happens if you die in PvP and you know that will happen often.

While Allods has it's cons, I played it more than any other FreeToPlay  MMO ever. Including generally accepted good FTP like Runes of Magic, or Atlantica.

I thought the classes, while not wildly new, were different enough in their mechanics to get me interested. The world itself looks VERY nice for a FTP ( and I found myself wanting to return there). The skill trees are slightly different also. I guess it is novel enough, but not so outlandish, that I enjoyed it for a change of pace.

However, that said, there are some horrendous grinds *cough*( bag quest )*cough*.And the cash shop is a little TOO useful for my comfort. Almost everything in it CAN be acquired in game, with a LOT of time and effort for some things.(Although selling keys to open chests that drop is perilously close to the line of unacceptable to me.)

To conclude, if you are looking for a polished FTP game, and don't mind a little grind or not having a leg up without paying, I would recommend Allods above all other FTP.

I give this game a 6 out of ten. I expect that to go up in the future as the game grows.

It's only been out of beta for around three months or so, So this game is really just

starting. For a begining game, it's not bad. The un-dead are just too funny if you

take the time to just watch them. From what I'v read about future expansion of the game

I definatly plan to stick around in there, just to see what happens.  :)

Just as a side note "Runes of magic thought of as a good game"??   ROFL!!

    Not from my experience!

In my past experience, Free to play MMOG's are never good.

The whole game is designed around the idea of getting you to spend money in the item shop, which deterioriates the game.  Because the content they develop is constrained to make you spend money in the item shop.

Of course, some people will say they never spend a dime, but most people do.  Otherwise they might as well just shut down the servers.  The only good quality MMOG's are pay to play ones.

I quit Alods because open pk area begins too early. Max lvl is 40 and u are forced to lvlup in open pvp map on your early 20s

Now, i am hardcore fan of open pk and death penalty, thats why i chose to play allods. So its funny for me to write this but this game is a ratrace. Those who started to play first could lvlup in peace and now gank lowbies mercilessly. i too started early, but took a break,  then returned and it appears i cant play it anymore because i die every 5 minutes.

Open pk with DP is fine but on bigger maps. Tis one is ridiculously small and there was no place for me. In shadowbane the world was big and it wasnt a problem. In shayia open pvp started on lvl50+ (60 is max). in alods this is just broken

I am happy with Heroes 5 now, not returning to mmos any soon.

to sum up, i stopped playing because i couldnt play anymore

    Playing: Rohan
Played (from best to worst): Shadowbane, Guild Wars, Shayia, Age of Conan, Warhammer, Runes of Magic, Rappelz, Archlord, Knight online, King of Kings, Kal online, Last chaos

I liked the use of the Z,X, and C keys, but too slow to level, and too much like WoW.  There's even one mob that sounds to me exactly like the warlock succubus pet, minus the whip crack.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

I just played a few days ago, and enjoyed a bit.  While it's not my style of gameplay of point-n-click/tab to target mobs, I gave it a try anyway since it's f2p.  Click my link to view some of the screenshots I took.  Hopefully that will help you decide.  Most of the Allods are on page 2.

I guess that's a matter of taste because I love the music :P

I'm also enjoying the game.  It's the first  f2p mmo I've tried and I have to say, I'm impressed at how much you can do without actually spending any money.

Been playing to level 10 so far and I think this game got more feeling than WOW does since many compare them each other.

Been playing WOW a lot and I must say I prefer Allods more.

Allods is a beautiful new game with outstanding graphics.... sometimes spectacular. Navigating to find quests was very challenging, even with their navigation system.  Players can acquire quests that will guarantee excessive rates of death.  Some quests I never found.  The customer service, at this point anyway, really stinks.
