Why I enjoy but leaving Allods

echiyaechiya Member Posts: 26

Its not the game mechanics, its not the Fod, its not the item shop or lack of auto attk or whatever you can think of....

Its these GOD awful little kids who play free games and do nothing but ruin chat, smart ass comments on everything, & answer "your Mom" to every question.. etc etc.

I confess I am just fed up with this.... kids have ruined most games I have enjoyed.. I beta tested wow and look at it now..tit fed cranky kids doing the pwn and zerg of everything... you cannot get in a guild that is absent of these leeches, you cannot join a group without an asshat who cannot play and demands all kinds of consideration and NEEDS everything.

The next game I join I would pay a small fortune to have some way of banning these awful, disrespectful, greedy and unskilled players who ruin all  & are catalyst for the dumbing down of what used to be fun about MMO's.

Bring the orignal and HARD eq1 back..... when games are diffcult and create a  skill for a player to learn these 7th graders will  steer clear of it. I would pay money..and good money to get a game that inhibits these nasty unimaginative fools from taking over games that could be better...but succumb to the needs of the avg 12 year old.   I am totally done with mmo's until one gets made for the adult and skilled player.   Can anyone see my point of view?

I agree 100%. My dream is a good game as Allods with a specific server OVER 30 or OVER 40. I want to pay 50 $ every mounth for play.

I agree I really do! I started playing mmorpgs when i was 15 but I didnt start feeling the hatred for stupid children playing till around 20. I recently started wow again, tried a new server and what do you know completely invested with them it was so bad I had to do a server transfer I rather put up with the as;holes on my main server than the "im gonna go find where you live and beat you up" children on the other server.  It's either one or the other and I choose the as;holes. Cold Hard Truth.

The whole MMO business moved from geek lair into kindergarten a few years ago.

Allods actually used to have quite good community, especially the russian forums used to be surprisingly good, considering the genre; they are a mess now. This is not Allods specific issue, just the difference betwen then and now is more glaring. Otherwise F2P / P2W games attract more kids and some publishers drive off the rest more vigorously, chosing easy milking over lasting fun. It is quite obvious gPotato is one of those, they have quite a reputation.

Btw, check their other game, Dragonica, it is Double Dragon / Golden Axe tribute that brings back memories and is very well designed in many aspects, but it is advertised (if it ever was actually advertised) by its looks which are very childish and no money/effort will ever be put into finishing its adaptation to western audience past introductory levels. On top it has awfull cash shop too; well not as awfull as Allods but that one is hard to beat.

Absolutely, would love "adult" only servers. You can often live with bugs or bad things in a game if you have a good community. But too many kids mixed in with adults just ruins a game. Would be better to have under 18 and over 18 servers, I'm sure parents would be happier if that existed.

I've not logged in to Allods for a month, but last time around every second sentence in the chat contained "your gay" in it.

I agree as well. I started playing MMOs in 1999 when I was a senior in High School. Now, 11 years later, I don't even recognize the genre anymore.

I will typically pick a roleplaying server, as this tends to weed out the worst of the kiddies. Unfortunately, in the case of WoW, if you want to do pvp or use the random dungeon finder, you're still subjected to idiots from other servers no matter how wonderful your own server is.

I think MMOs need a sort of rating system, where players can give negative marks or kudos to other players if their own rating is high enough, and everyone can have an auto ignore feature that ignores anyone below a rating level that they've set. This could create a weird, isolated feeling among groups in games, but honestly, at this point I think that is preferable to the alternative.

Also, I have not played Allod's since beta, but I tend to leave any public (i.e. trade) channels in any game I play, and I've played most of them. :P

Agree, this is a problem that accures now days on every game, "Allmost"

I play wow atm, and its wore there than ever before.

I meen when i started to play MMO , you acctyly had to have a CreditCard to play.

    I can take an example.

I am now rerolling a Priest that are going to be a Dicepline priest, all the kids just say "ITS A PVP CHAR"

And since me and my guild " wich is now on pouse" are over the age of 25 and the oldest are 48 , we play for fun and trys things out.

Acording to me a Dicepline Priest are a very good, "Warder" places a strong shield over the player " like in Everquest 2 "Shaman" we have tried 1 Dicepline Priest and 1 ordanary healer , and that realy is a good combination when it comes to raid.

But since the audiance are kids they decide on what is or not.

Its like the Gear Score thing. everybody says " you have to have 5.4 gs to do ICC, well , i have made it with a raid were all have a gs on 4.6, but the kids are the rulers here.

You mean World of warcraft isn't a hard game? But I thought it was the game that took the most skill to play with arena and pvp! I like having gear shoved down my throat without spending 100 hours a week hitting the foot of a boss! I WANT MAH LEWTZ KAY THANKZ.

I'm similar. I would definitely pay more, much more, to be on a server with less leet teenagers.

This is not to say that ALL 14 year olds are horrible. I played WoW for a short time and I was in a very small guild that had a young teenager. He was calm and polite and not overly selfish. We adored him and he was a lot of fun really. Unfortuntely this is the exception not the rule.

The only game I'm playing is DDO at the moment. I like the grouping tool they have and always write that I am looking for older players wanting to take it slow. This usually makes for an enjoyable group. The leet zerging kids will stay right away from a group that might slow their xp gain rate.

For SWTOR I am worried. Seriously worried. Finding a good guild of adults, and I'm looking already, is a top priority for me there.

I can relate to this thread.  I have found a game recently that has what seems to be a very mature player-base.  It's small and growing.  I have been surpised that no kiddies have latched onto this one yet.  It has a 7day free trial, is free to play (with $20 one time fee to purcahse, free monthly, cash shop).  It also has a robust crafting system so that you don't have to rely on the cash shop.  It also has an engaging world, decent graphics, decent gameplay (minus a few bugs which the dev team seems diligent to work on).

I completely agree with the OP. The infested community in Allods now is the main reason I left. I originaly beta tested the game and had fun at first until it hit open beta. Then it started getting worse when the WoW kiddie trolls started flooding in and especially after launch. Now it's impossible to have general chat toggled on without hearing some lewd comment aimed at someone's mom or some colorful description about another player's lack of pwning. Recently even with the vanity items being added in the CS. I read quite a few of them posting and asking for WoW-similar items when AN asked what the players would like to see added....

You may want to try out Alganon, its a very niche mature community. Kids get weeded out quickly and most of the guilds will not accept players under the age of 25.

funny, the teens and adults are the ones that annoy me. constant sexual talk is much more annoying then a "your mom" response (which i've never even gotten before). infact, i can't even recall one of these 7th graders that you find so annoying, i think the last one was when i paied a visit to my old runescape buddy. it's a breth of fresh air to see a childish comment, rather then some kind of perverted trash talk. sure the kids can get annoying, but for the few times i talk to one it's not worth ranting about. most of the time i think "oh this idiot must be like 10, LOL" only to plug in my mic and hear some 20 year old guy acting like a retard. unless you actually hear their voice, you've got no facts to back you up.

  • BoneflowerBoneflower Member Posts: 91

The saddest part is that most these annoying players calling everything "gay" and ruining your experience by acting 5 years old are likely 25.

you are complaining a game with unicorns and dragons attracts kids?  LOL  you need a new hobby

I would slap the bejeezus out of my kid if he behaved like the kids do in most of these games.  Then he would laugh at me, since he's taller than me and about three times stronger.

Then I would unplug his computer and he wouldn't get it back until he turned 18.  I guarantee that would stop him laughing.

Why in hell do parents let their kids speak and behave so badly?  Don't they ever pay attention to what their little darlings are doing in these games?  I taught my kid not to beg before he was old enough to play online without me standing over him every minute, and he has known not to be a little racist snot since forever.  As far as I can tell, he has no urge to be a racist anyway, and rarely is he even snotty.  Are all these other kids infesting area chat playing on computers set up in skinhead training camps or something?

Game companies need to ironclad some disclaimers for adult servers, then create/implement some technology that  almost guarantees either the credit card account used to purchase gametime is owned by a +18 year old or at very least that any kid using the card got permission from an idiot parent well aware of the age restriction or  that the kid stole the card (putting the liability where it belongs, on the parent), then game companies should charge a few dollars extra a month so we adults can get some blessed relief from the racist terrorist brat plague.

I am convinced there is only one way to eliminate these grave evils, namely through the establishment of a socialist economy, accompanied by an educational system which would be oriented toward social goals.

I used to get beat with a wooden paddle if I was disrespectful, these new age parents need to do that. OR if I was really bad my pa would bend my finger back until I screamed in pain, see thats what we need these days, teach kids where their place is. I hate it when I log in and the other players are being snots and rude.

The wooden paddle is nothing compared to having 3 wooden spoons broken on your body, hot water, direct punches (more like thumps), all areas of a belt, slaps, and the ocassional 12 words, "Do you really want me to give you something to cry for?"

The last time a tear fell from my was when I was 11. The last time I got beaten I was atleast 2months away from my 13th. The last time I told my mother I love her was on her B-day 3 weeks ago.

    ^ True story.

I remember when I yelled out at her, "I'M GONNA CALL THE NSPCC.!!!!!!"

She went silent, gave me the telephone and went to get the number.

Sorry, I just got hold of a certain feeling there, forgot what it's called. image

"We got rid of the trinity." How'd you do that? "Now everyone can heal." Sounds like you just took the mechanic and spread it thin. "Well no, there's one class that can do it better than others." I see, so they're healers. "No. They're.." -mind asplode-

I've yet to play a game where I couldn't find a community of players that were like-minded and mature. There are always going to be immature teenagers and adults on the internet. It's a matter of perspective. I don't let it get to me, I simply ignore it and seek out the people who don't act in such a distasteful manner. There have been trolls and asses in every MMO made, and there always will be.

  • OddbotOddbot Member Posts: 31

LOTRO has always been my haven from the l337 kiddies. The community is really a breath of fresh air. I just hope it stays that way after the F2P switch.

A game's community can certainly make or break the game for me as well.  It's part of the reason I've been bouncing from MMO to MMO is that I've not found a home I felt comfortable in.  Really it seems like the WoW phenomenon destroyed our MMO culture and debased to kiddie porn chat rooms.  I miss the days of EQ where disrespecting the community usually meant your toon was screwed from ever trying to accomplish anything in the game.

Every MMO will have a bad community, here and there. Be it server, time of day, zone, raid, group, etc....Just have to learn to deal with it. You can always join a guild and just not have the "All" tab showing until you're needing to post something on it. The only exceptions would be 1 server games...like Darkfall...that is a hard one to find a way to avoid the idiots.
