Best class for CASUAL player

LobotomistLobotomist ZagrebPosts: 5,047Member Uncommon

Here is a question for lore keepers of Warhammer

I am CASUAL player, and can not dedicate more than 1-2 hours a day. Participating in well organised PVP guild that has strong strategies is out of question.

I want to play on order side , and join the underdogs -

So, deducting from all that -

What order class would you recommend ?

1.It should be fun to play in PVE

2.It should be well sought for in groups (both PVP and PVE)

3.It should be of benefit for both PUG and organised PVP

....play open beta and find out.  Those are completely subjective questions at this point.

Hmm... I would have to say a Rune Priest or a Warrior Priest and here's why...

    1.  Great for a casual player.  Healers/support characters are always needed (in PvP and PvE)  And you don't necessarily have to spend every waking moment online to be competitive.

    2.  Not entirely as gear dependent as a tank class.  Can get away with having little to no gear as long as you heal well.   Also you're more likely to get the gear you want if you're the only healer in a good group.

    3.   Both priests will have key roles in RvR.  Usually a team is only as good as it's healers.

If healing/support isn't your thing, try a Bright Wizard or Archmage.

---Bright Wizard's get nasty AOE spells which are always fun

---Archmages look like a good mix of offense/support

Both classes don't seem to gear dependent initially but you have to consider that DPS characters are a dime a dozen.  Good luck!

Rune Priest sounds like good idea , problem is - i never liked to be a healer type

And as for tank (this is what i wanted to play) , i did forget how equipment dependent they could be....

    Path Of Grimnir

This path is concerned with runes which affect large, sweeping areas as they unleash their innate power. A specialist in this path is an expert at changing the ebb and tide of combat by either bolstering his allies' entire front line, or by sending vast swaths of crushing power across the enemy masses.

Sounds pretty bad ass to me.

    Well.. It's simple..

If you don't like to play the healer class..

    Than play the Tank class.

Like it was said, the DPS classes will be a dime a dozen, where as a tank is ALWAYS needed (also, for solo play, I might suggest the squig herder)

    Currently playing Real Life..

Well if your interested in tanking for the order, I think Ironbreaker is the only way to go.  They're the best.

I don't reccomend it for causual players though for the following reasons.

    At high levels:

Tanks generally require good gear, which means you need a lot of in-game currency and a good guild that likes to do raids/hard quests.

People forget that a guild usually only needs 1-2 serious tanks to do endgame stuff,  and if it's between Jimbo the nice guy who occasionally plays with decent gear or FRANK the TANK who plays 18 hours a day with epic gear, Frank's going to be the one to lead guild events.

In PvP a tank without nice gear and a good group backing him up might as well be a side of beef with a target painted on it holding a sign in orcish saying "Eat at your leisure"

However, a tank is a core member of any group and if you're a masochist that likes to be needed, I say go for it!

Jeez , you are soo right. You just ruined my plan to be Ironbreaker

Now I really wanted to play dwarf side. But Runepriest is not my style , cause i am not into healing much (although it does sound like great casual play class)

Perhaps Dwarf Engie would be good ?

Elves... only Shadow warrior strikes my fancy ... dont know if its any good for my casualness ?

Humans ... Witch Hunter , i love it. But i hear they will be dime and dozen - and i dont want to play overpopulated class.

Bright wizard ? Sounds it could be good Casual class - but i am afraid there will be many of them aswell

I'm in the same spot, I wont' have the time for well orgnaized gank guilds.

caual fun will be what I am limited to

I want order/underdog - so I'm going with dwarf engineer

As i'm not in beta I really don't know if thats the right answer, but it seems like it will be.

I can assure you, every single class is self sufficient in PvE, and in PvP - each has their role, though some are more dependant on groups.

If you're running around solo in PvP alot, I'd suggest a ranged class - as melee need healer support to be viable in the long run.  Ranged aren't as powerful as melee, but they have options, and can pick and choose their fights more easily.

As a casual player you can't go wrong with just about any class you want to play.  They will all be able to do well in pvp/pve.  You shouldn't have many problems finding a PUG for pve or pvp even if you play a popular class.  That will only come into play if you want to join some uber raiding guild, which casual players do not.  You should have no problems doing quests, getting instance groups, or joining rvr battles.  As long as you dont expect to join a raid guild that runs only optimized teams, you can't go wrong with any class choice.  I've played overpopulated classes in other games (rogue/hunter in WoW, swashbuckler in EQ2, ranger in Lotro) and had no problems playing them.

    Honestly all of them.

Well my issue is, all my favorite classes were exactly those 4 who have been cut. ><
