First of all, all we know is that sex will be a part of this game. We also know that it won't be explicit. There's a lot of speculation going on here, which is fine, but people seem to be taking it as fact, which it isn't.
People seem to think that because there is going to be sex in the game that characters are going to be able to have sex with each other. That wasn't the news item.
Some people have come to the conclusion that they will be portraying characters forcing others to have sex. That wasn't the news item.
What we do know is that characters will be able to have sex with someone. My best, albeit uninformed, guess and I stress the word guess, is that it's going to be NPC related. We also know that characters will receive a buff for the act. This fits well with the Conan lore. I've so often seen people complain that an MMO had an IP that they didn't follow. This is an example of staying true to an IP. From what I can tell, that's a positive thing.
Games with "M" ratings and any other media intended for us grown-up people tend to have sexual content, or at least implied sex. Look at a game like Sims 2. They don't even have an M rating and non-explicit sex is a major point of the game. It leads to the procreation feature that really makes the game unique. We're not talking about hardcore pornographic scenes here. We're talking about characters engaging in the act of sex.

Why do you think professional athletes and (for example) soccer stars get quarantined before important events? They get banned from booze and sex, so they should NOT be EXHAUSTED before the start of the match.
Is there really a coach out there who tells his pupils - "go get your girls, we have an hour before the game starts"? Lol.
All in all - it is VERY SILLY to get a buff from sex. I would maybe expect this from a GTA kind of a game, but not in AoC.
More in-line it should be - you get drunk in a tavern, and instead of you get in a drunken brawl, you pick up a girl/guy, you get some action and you pass out.

If they are going to add buffs for sex, they should add debuffs too. I would think if they added risks along with the rewards, I would be able to stomach this better. Just add a few STDs, make one permadeath, and it'll be more realistic.
A buff? are they serious, the only buff that you would likely get from sex is a STD, which is actually a debuff, I could see that happening.

Surely there are parents that will let there kids play it despite the M rating, I say this because at the age of 12 my dad would wake me up by blowing bong hits in my face, and if parents of children get into a hizzy because there kids r playing this THEN KEEP AN EYE ON YER DAMNED KIDS AND QUITE LETTING THE PUTER BE THE BABYSITTER.
I find it funny that all the "mature" people have such a problem with what devs choose to add to a mature mmo. Nudity, drugs, and violance are part of everyday life. The real question is the game going to be worth playing is the nudity there to cover up something? Maybe, maybe not we will have to wait and see. On the issue of underage people being in the game of course there will be some. As many as in wow of course not. Compare it to the movies do you see kids in rated R movies yes. Ok now are there more kids in the pg-pg13 movie or the R movie. Censor ship does work somewhat not every parent is a piece of crap and most of us monitor what our kid does or watches.
Since we know buff whores will exist, will you get STDs from unprotected sex / "buffing"? Will the chance of getting STDs be a random roll on each instance or have a modifier based on number of partners? Since STDs in the appropriate timeframe have no cure, will you receive a permanent debuff if you get one?
Lastly, this is one of many reasons I won't get AoC. The last thing I want to do in a game is simulate sex, in all honesty, regardless of whether it is "lore" or not, I find it pretty pathetic.
