Play past lvl 10 before you bash this game (a constructive review)

OK guys, I have been playing mmorpgs for about 8 years now and to tell you the truth I think this game is absolutely amazing. I have never been addicted to a game like this in a looong time. Its really a shame to look at all these terrible comments on the forum, it makes people have a negative idea before they even play it. To be honest, I almost deleted this game after playing it for a couple of hours because I also thought that it was just really poorly made like Eudeamons or something and solely for the purpose of exploiting item mall. My friend who joined me at the time thought the same thing. However, the next day i played again just for the hell of it, and once I got to the 2nd and 3rd maps away from newbie town and started getting more skills the game became REALLY REALLY good. After u get like lvl 15 or so (just a fews hours) you will find that it is NOT just button mashing like you first thought it was when u only had like 2 skills. I can tell u now, I'm lvl 45 now and ive been completely addicted to this game because after lvl 20 the game really flourishes. Also, that friend i mentioned earlier is still playing it and he is level 42 now and loves it. He has also been playing mmorpgs for almost a decade, including WoW(for 4 yrs).
Once you fight against aggressive monsters(yes i know it sounds very simple) you will find that this gameplay drastically changes and actually becomes intense when there is a fear of actually dying (which makes the noob map terribly boring). Party system is great because theres a shitload of players out there who want to party once u hit lvl 20, and partying is actually fun in this game. Hordes of monsters come at you while you and your party frantically try to keep urselves alive and make the trek to the next town. Now at lvl 40+ i find the grind to be absurdly fun. Oh did you guys know this game has instance dungeon? The first REAL instance dungeon (lvl 34) is amazing, i have never played anything like it in an mmorpg. Its just an entirely new level. Its like one of the better missions in guild wars put into this game. Theres actually a lot of skill involved when try to stay alive and get through the dungeon before the timer runs out. At the end of it, you get a sweet reward.
As for the lack of character customization, I really have no problems with it since all of the time you will be wearing a helmet or headgear anyway. The game already has shitloads of armor per class including expansion armor sets you can only get from drops along the way. Its really good that you can only get one- two sets of armor per few lvls so you can gauge what lvl is the person (very important in PvP stuff or even when u will ask the person to party). Like if i see a certain armor set on someone, and that someone is pking the crap out of everybody, i will run away because i know that set is for people 20 level higher than me.
The class balance seems pretty good, even for pvp. No one class is absurdly overpowered (at least now that is). Also when you PvP you have an innate PvP shield directly proportional to your HP bar. the shield will be depleted when you pvp and then your hp bar following it (then u eventually die). PK system is very good too. You will only go to jail if u go on a mass killign spree, but if u just kill one person you will turn red w/o having to go to jail if u die. People in game are generally nice, you dont see hordes of Pkers running around killing every newbie in sight.
And..for the grind. The grind in this game is just amazing. No other game allows you to cleave your opponent into a bloody mess. you can party, solo, AoE mob, instance dungeon, quest, commission quest, whatever ur little heart desires. The hit-connect is really well done and whenever ur blow lands, some blood comes off and sparks fly. theres also a shitload of places you can lvl at any given time, unlike other games where at lvl XX you must stay at this place until ur eyes bleed.. . The grind is only bad when u first start the game because you have no skills, the monsters are stupid looking animals, no party play, and the monsters do not aggro (very important!! imaging playing dynasty warriors where all the enemy armies just stand around and not attack you).
THE MONSTER DESIGNS-> oh my god? once i started killing things around lvl 35 i started to see the style of monsters.. change. They look like they came out of diablo II or something, but in 3D.
Ok anyway. theres my rant. take what u want from it, but i urge you... please do not bash this game if you did not at least fight aggressive monsters, its very important lol. As a last note to leave you with, at my level i do not even pay attention to by experience bar most of the time, since depending on where u level the battle can be very intense and you have to be very focused on what you are doing.

I suggest they make the beginning fun, you cant expect people to play every free game they download so long it just takes to much time. Theres way to many games that suck to do that.
This thread pretty much confirms it's just the same old grinding game.
Obviously you did not read the whole article than...either that or you cannot comprehend what it said.
My guess is you never got past Denebe? It's a shame.
Finally someone who actually appreicate this game! I am still a low level (7) but I find it really fun. I find customizing my characters useless. Alot of the time I'm wearing armor and I see no reason to take it off as I am usally fighting. I am still in newbie town and don't expect to leave anytime soon. I still have lots of quests to finish XD. But I love leaving my monsters cut in half or headless. It just warms my heart to see someone that doesn't play it for 1 second and then delete it to go ranting about it.
As for the graphics, they are really good. Some of you may say "7h053 4r3 nu8 gr4ph1c5" but I really find them intresting. The swords in the shops look absolutley wonderful. I don't see many games that customize every weapon in the game. RuneScape just changes the color of it except for dragon items which just change completeley. And World of Warcraft is really the only other game that customizes weapons.(that I know of!)
Thats all I have to say about this game. Its just a really fun game. I don't think I'll be deleting it anytime soon. Or at all actually.
I usually hate this type of games, but this one its pretty good after you get out of newbie maps, played to level 46 and loving it so far, can always login once in a while for some carnage.
I'll keep playing it for sure, not as much granted, but this one will be my diablo2 (wishful 3) fix

Iv palyed 2Moons since the first batch of closed beta testers and i can say that this game is excellent. People seem to bash it after the first 5 levels, which i must admit are pretty glum, the mobs you kill are crap at that level and in general its the worst period of the game. But as soon as you get a skill or 2 and you can just keep plowing through mobs one after another thats when you stop noticing the grind so much because the leveling is fun.
There is plenty to do in the game and still a huge amount to be added, just look at the world map, there is still masses of space to be used and we will also be getting DeadFronts soon and they add a whole new aspect to the game plus they also improve leveling speed to =D.

You call that an article ? 80% of the content is your raving about how great it is and how your friends like it without giving any evidence.
You describe the grind as awesome ??!! You have played games for 8 years and never experienced instancing before ? Is this review written by an 8 year runescape vet ? This is simply one of the worst reviews I have ever seen. It is a gigantic fanboi piece with absolutely no meat on the bone, could have shrunk it down to about a paragraph tops .
Game only gets good past 10 eh ? Isn't that the usual excuse you hear ? Because if you dislike something someone else likes you must have no experienced the game enough, or else you would just love it. Standard fanboy arguement.

this is a fun game, but i keep getting disconnected. Anyone else having the same problem?
With just one post and the person giving a completely sugar coated "review" kinda makes you wonder about that persons credibility.
I have a lvl 42 char, been playing mmo's for more than 15 yrs.Having said that, this 'constructive review' is totally biased. Some of the things that are not mentioned is the actual gameplay involving combat. There are 2 modes of combat, In either mode, you have to click on the mob you are attacking. No shortcut keys...no 'attack closest mob...no attack nearest mob..no nothing. Now, let's say you are fighting 3 mobs (very common due to adds). You target one of them and kill it. At this point you don't have a target to continue fighting, until you try to double click on another target. In the mean time, you are being hit by the other mobs and they are moving all over the place. As a melee char, tryilng to double click to continue fighting is very frustrating to say the least. Thus, this system sucks.
Next, the pathing of your char is a joke. You are blocked from travelling almost everywhere you go. This leads to problems when in combat. Often, you are fighting near the boundary of your path, which causes you to just stop fighting. You can't target the mob to fight it. You get a message , 'targert cannot be attacked'. You are to close to blocked areas...where a lot of fighting occurs. In the mean time, the mob CAN hit you, lol. This is one of the most poorly designed game I have ever played.
There are other negative things that cause for poor game play such as kser's (kill stealers). I would say that 90% of the players will steal your kill. Let's say you are fighting 3 mobs. You only can target 1 at a time. Even if you aoe and get every mob down to a few hp, other players will come along and kill them off, and you only get credit for the mob you have targeted.
These problems that I have given you are on a daily basis and happens all the time. This game is strictly for noobs. It would be ok if you don't have other mmo's to compare to. Since I play a lot, this game is way below subpar as far as combat, targeting, and character pathing. For someone to ignore these negatves, like the original poster, must be related to the developer or have a friend working for the company.. All in all, this games suxors.
I have never been disconnected yet, but I hear that they are having some stability problems. If you listen to the podcast on the official website, they state that "there biggest problem in the beginning, was the ammount of people they had". They did not expect this many people for OB, so the servers were a little....unprepared. When the servers get perfectly stable, then they said it will be time for Dead Front.

I have never played runescape before, and yes i have played instance dungeons before (Asheron's Call II, Diablo II and Guild Wars series). Is that enough credibility for you? The game getting good past level 10 is being honest, because I told you I almost deleted this game as well as my friend after playing an hour or two of it. I do not know what else you want me to tell you. The servers are always packed with people and the community gets bigger every day... is that enough proof that this game is good (2 weeks ago there werent nearly as many people? Also, with this amount of people they have different channels so you can level on a different channel if that certain place is crowded. With this many people you would expect lag right? Well guess what, there is very little lag and no queues.
More PRO's about the game:
Another thing I found out that is good about thisgame is that ithe engine can support mobs and mobs of monsters(plus awesome effects) on the screen at once without lagging your computer. I have found very few games that can do this properly without causing your computer to explode into a ball of flames (hello lineage 2?). guild wars and sword of the new world comes to mind.
SKILLS:
DIFFERENT SKILL EFFECTS!! Can you say, holy shit? Unlike other games where when you get a new skill it does not differ in anyway in special effects or appearance compared to the last one you got except that maybe your weapon will slash upward instead of downward, this game has UNIQUE skills. every time i get a new skill i get excited because the attack animation is completely different every time (at lvl 10 my character punched something twice as a skill....now my character headbutts, dropkicks and then does a rambo roll all in one skill lmao) and the lights... oh god the special effects coming with it are beautiful. a lot of times you can tell what the skill is just by watching the skill special effect.
Monster models/Armor design:
This is great. At first i was mad cuz i was killing stupid bugs at level 1, but now I am killing stuff that looked like it popped out of diablo II. Also the game does not recycle monsters and skins, like in FFXI where you kill crabs at lvl 20 and then you kill crabs again at lvl 40 with the only difference being a different name. THEN AT LVL 60 you kill crabs again but with a different color!! same model tho. Why the fyck do i have to kill crabs anyway?? Might as well play a fishing game. Anyway, the stuff i am killing now look like i WANT to kill them. they look like theyre from the pits of hell and they deserve to have their heads ripped off. Oh yeah btw, no monster model recycling (or none that i can tell).

If you are talking about in game advertising it hasnt been implemented yet and even when it is it will be this dinky little add at the top or bottom of your screen. And that is FAAAR from malware.They are even debating making it optional, and that if you allow them to put their dinky little ad on the corner of your screen you get +10% exp.

The game uses Gameguard which is malware. Maybe you should educate yourself more before you just download everything and anything. Malware is destructive to your PC anyway you look at it. Do a search on Gameguard there is plenty of info. out there...

Well, I have had gamegaurd on my computer for ages now, and I have yet to see any negative side effects.
To the poster two posts above, maybe you should do some more research on how some anti-viruses can't tell the difference between sending large packets and a virus.
